I am writing this to bring to your attention a very serious matter. On August 29th I called my dish now at because a friend gave me a flyer on satellite tv. So when I called I got the information and the csr Noah went thru his speech and told me that he needed my cc # to run my credit and I was fine with that. He then stated that I would be charged two amounts. One was a $49.99 installation fee which would be applied to my first months bill and a application fee of $29.95.

I told him I could authorize my card t be charged that amount due to my recent move and not having enough funds in my bank account. I told him I would cal1 back in two weeks once I had the funds in there to setup service and I would.

So on August 30th I checked my bank account and to my horror I saw my account was cahrged by my dish now for $29.95 . They charged my card after I told them I could not give them authroization to do so.

So I called backed and talked to their "wonderful" customer service the next day and was transferred to billing. I had the pleasure of talking to a Brittany. Not only did she deny that my card weas charged the $29.99 she stated she thought the "whole thing was funny" and laughed at me. I WAS FURIOUS!! And demanded to speak to a supervisor.

After being put on hold for over 15 minutes she stated the supervisor was busy and it would do no good to talk to any one any way because without a copy of my bank statement they couldnt do anything. I still demanded to speak to a supervisor. I was then transferred to Daffney and she stated basically the same things as the previous CSR and suggested I call the CSR department and talk to them about this. I stated they transfered me to you.

Below is a copy of the letter I sent to my dish now and echostar.com the parent company of dish network. My dish now is a independent retailer of dish network:

I am writing this to bring to your attention a very serious matter that I have tried to get rectified in a timely matter and I want to have rectified IMMEDIATELY!! My debit card was charged $29.99 without my permission and thus I incurred $33.00 in overdraft fees and I want these charges reversed IMMEDIATELY!!!

Last week I inquired both online and by call my dish now regarding satellite service. After getting your number from your website and looking over the packages I called your 1-800 number. I spoke to a rep named "Noah" and we went over what I may as far as channels go. He then asked for my information and I provided it.

He then asked me for my cc info as he stated they would need to do a credit check so I said okay. Then he stated I would be charged a application fee of $29.99 and a setup fee of $49.99 dollars. I stated due to my family moving to the area I 'm in and such I dint have enough to cover the charges and if my card was charged it would overdraft my account. So I stated I would have to call back in a few weeks and setup service. So we parted ways and I thought everything would be cool. BUT EVERYTHING WAS SO NOT COOL!!!

That nexr evening I was checking my bank account online and there was a $29.99 charge on my card from my dish now on my card. I was furious. I didnt give permission to have my card charged yet it was charged.

So I called your "wonderful" customer service the next day and was transferred to billing. I had the pleasure of talking to a Brittany. Not only did she deny that my card weas charged the $29.99 she stated she thought the "whole thing was funny" and laughed at me. I WAS FURIOUS!! And demanded to speak to a supervisor.

After being put on hold for over 15 minutes she stated the supervisor was busy and it would do no good to talk toone any way because without a copy of my bank statement they couldnt do anything. I still demanded to speak to a supervisor. I was then transferred to Daffney and she stated basically the same things as the previous CSR and suggested I call the CSR department and talk to them about this. I stated they transfered me to you.

So over the next two days i spoke to about a dozen CSR reps and was give about a dozen phone numbers. Some of them for dish network. Dish network would have no record of me since I talked to MY DISH NOW. At this point I have another check bounce and another $33.00 in late fees. This brings my total to $95.95 I WANT THIS REVERSED IMMEDIATELY!! I DID NOT GIVE AUTHORITY TO HAVE MY CARD CHARGED. I HAD STATED IF MY CARG WAS CHARGED IT WOULD OVERDRAFT. YET MY DISH NOW STILL CHARGED IT ANYWAY!!!

Is this how you get customers? When I spoke to one CSR rep about this she tried to sell me a package? Are you kidding me? I was trying to explain what happen and here she is explaining to me about the great deals. I feel ripped off. I had money taken from me for a service I didnt want. I feel I am entitled to get my money back.

I have left messages for supervisors at your home office in Bocca Raton, Fl and NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALLS!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! I WANT THESE CHARGES RETURNED BACK TO ME AS I DIDNT AUTHORIZE CHARGES ON MY CARD!!! IN NO WAY DID I AUTHORIZE THEM!! I have enclosed my bankl statement showing the charge of $29.99 and two late fess of 33.00 and a check written for 4.25 also was overdrafted because of this. I EXPECT AN IMMEDITE REPSONSE AND AN IMMEDIATE ANSWER TO THIS. I WANT THESE CHARGES REVERSED AT ONCE.

When someone asks you not to charge a card you dont turn around and charge it. That is bad business and to insult your customers on top of that is just plain disgusting. I await these charges to be reversed and await your answer.

So that was three weeks ago... I was given several numbers to call 866-380-3053, 561-314-0396, 561-544-1540, (800) 599-2309 ,(800) 203-0008 ,(561) 750-5150 ,(800) 203-0005 ,(914) 428-8731 ,(866) 659-3474. I left messages for Dan who was a customer service manager who I thought was one. Turns out he was just a CSR. And his name was actually Don after talking to John when I called furious that none of my 7 messages were returned. This is after a month of no response on their part. Don told me to talk to Ryan in Billing. As it turns out Ryan is another CSR and not in Billing.

This company seems to be just transferring me around in the hope that I just drop it. So I email CEO escalation at EchoStar. They are the parent company of Dish Network. My Dish Now tried to connect me to them and I refused as I never spoke with dish network. But in any event I contacted them at CEO Escalation and I now have talked to Brian and Angeline at CEO Escalation at EchoStar. The best they were able to do is forward it on to retail escalation. I did talk to a supervisor name Jan when I called 561-314-0396. She tried to say I went on their website and the fee was non refundable. AT NO TIME DID I EVER GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AND AT NO TIME DID I WAS I EVER TOLD THAT THE FEE WAS NON REFUNDABLE!!

This whole incident has caused me to lose hundreds of dollars and my temper. Have tried to email them but all of their email addresses come back undeliverable. I feel cheated and screwed. I feel this whole thing is a scam to scam people out of money and I can't accept it.

I work in the customer service field and if we ever did this to our customers we would be out of business. I want something done to put a stop to them taking advantage of consumers. Ideally I would like my money back and an apology. I appreciate your help in this matter.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the chargetruth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

demand tion E.
Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and orm.

I had a similar experience with another company....

And did everything suggested here including asking my bank for Federal Regulation Form E. No one, including the bank manager, knew what it was. They did some checking and could find nothing. I had my account charged after I cancelled an account within the right amount of time yet the company charged me for two months which caused overdrafts since I only put money in that account when I was anticipating an online transaction. I got the company to refund the money they took but they refused to refund the NSF charges. So did the bank. Apparently, it's not fraud if I at any point gave them my card information. They did say I could fill out a form and pay $28 to stop the company from charging my account anymore. Apparently, cancelling with the company itself doesn't matter if they continue to take the money. I finally filed a report with the BBB and the next day, an officer of the company involved replied and stated that if I could prove them taking the money from my ccount caused the NSF charges, they'd send mea check for the NSF charges. He was true to is word and I got the check afte sending proof. I also closed my account with that bank (Hancock Bank) and will never do business with them again. I proved to them I had canceled within the appropriate time frame and that the company involved had refunded the two months charges right away and the bank could have easily refunded my NSF charges but they chose not to and also didn't have a clue what Federal Regulation E Form is.
