My Place Apartments Shaw Management Group RIP OFF...SCAM ARTISTS....DO NOT USE!!! Chicago, Illinois

My daughter went to this business in hopes that they could find her a place to live. she signed a contract for them to find a studio apartment in a defined area, at a certain price range, and that would accept dogs by a certain date. After 6 days of delays in calls and paperwork they found a place.

Within an hour she received a call that the place they found was no longer available and in order to find a place in short notice, she needed to amend the contract to find a place without dogs, even though they still had over a week to search. Within an hour or so they had a place lined up for to view the next day at a certain time. She was told that if she did not show up to view the apartment and sign the lease, she would lose her money. We went to Chicago and upon arriving at the apartment and being read a rules sheet on how we can view an apartment, we went in.

The apartment was in a smelly, gross building with an elevator that smelled worse. We were told the only thing the apartment needed was the carpets cleaned. As we entered the carpets were the least of the problems (although cleaning them wouldn't have helped. The kitchen cabinets were taped together and falling apart, the countertops looked burnt and were warped, and the stove had recently been on fire as the back of it was burnt. The landlord said she could have 1 of dog and wanted to sign a 13 month lease.

She expressed her concerns to our My Place Apartments tour guide Louis. He said he would need to call "crazy Steve" to see what he could do. After a couple conversations in his vehicle to where we could not hear what was said and a message left for crazy steve to call me (which has still never been returned), Louis informed us that they had fulfilled the
contractual obligations and that if she did not take the apartment, she would have to talk to a case manager at the office to see if they would allow her a "second chance" at finding a place.

2 days passed before anyone bothered to return her calls and the case manager stated that in order to receive a second chance, she would need to amend the contract to allow them more time to search but that she would not be allowed to amend the contract back to the original criteria in the application of finding a place to accept her dogs. she expressed her dissatisfaction in how this is not fair and they stated that they had fulfilled their obligation of the contract and
basically she had to accept their terms or lose my money.

My Place Apartments is nothing but a scam and should be put out of business! They prey on poor naive individuals who are only looking for a place to call home.
