SEO Reputation Management at its best!

Normally when you feel you've been ripped off by a company you're just left with a bad taste in your mouth, but there's something distinctly fishy about this bunch - in-fact, I'd say they stink!

MyParcelDeliverytake extra money from you to insure the items you're couriering with them from loss or damage. That's all fine until you find as I did, that the item you've payed to insure isn't actually insurable by this company!

And if you think that's fishy, get a load of this. When you manage to find the list of items which this bunch of sharks won't accept a claim for, it's hard to think of an item you CAN send through them safely - not even fishing rods!!!

The list appears at the end of this blog.

When I booked a parcel with My Parcel Delivery .com, they asked what thecontents of the package was. I stated in the online form that it was a mirror. The website then asked me if I wanted to increase my insurance, so I increased it to 100 at a further cost to me on top of the delivery charge to protect the item in transit.. [continued below]....

The mirror was smashed to pieces (despite being packed in a wooden crate) but when I tried to make a claim, I was sent a form
with the restricted or prohibited items - and - lo and behold, mirrors were on it. At no time during booking did the website indicate that a mirror was a restricted item despite the fact that I stated that this is what I was sending on the site.

However, they were very happy to take more money for insurance to cover an item which wasn't insurable by this company. My Parcel Delivery say that it is not possible for them to verify the contents of a package on their website - this is simply not the truth because as a web designer I know that it is a very simple coding issue to recognise a key word like 'mirror' in a website and  alert the consumer that a relevant item is a restricted item.

The truth is that they don't want you to know because they're suppressing information which could easily be adopted to inform consumers about the items on their site that they will not insure, despite taking money for that very purpose!

All this, and I've said nothing about the difficulty I (and judging by the review forums many, many others) have had contacting this company when something goes wrong. When you do eventually manage to contact someone, the response is pretty pathetic - I was promised a call from Customer Services within 24 hours. How many of you think I got one?

Have look at the list of restricted and prohibited items from this company below and PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A LOAD OF HASSLE AND DON'T USE THIS DISHONEST COMPANY!

Justice! ,By Incogna.

AUTHOR: Incogna - (United Kingdom)

Just to finish the article, I took my complaint against this company to Trading Standards. They upheld my complaint and supported me against the company. I was given a full refund and an apology by the company before going to court. What a pity that so many companies still have to act in this irresponsible way with their consumers, creating so much bad feeling and brand hatred towards them. Thank you however to Cambridgeshire Trading Standards for their superb support, diligence and assistance in my case against this company.

The company's anser is disingenuous because...

AUTHOR: Incogna - (United Kingdom)

It is extremely misleading for this company to suggest that "...due to the automated nature of the booking process it is not possible for us to verify each consignment and its contents. "

I am a web designer and the truth is that they could easily insert a simple line of code into their website that recognised and warned the consumer of potentially prohibited items. I am currently talking to Trading Standards an have been told by them that they will support my position if I take this matter to the County Court.

I will keep you all updated with my progress.

Prohibited & retsricted items

AUTHOR: Andrew - (United Kingdom)

Please accept our apology that your consignment was damaged in transit.  We take all reasonable steps to ensure that our Customers are aware of those items that are either prohibited or restricted prior to confirming their booking on our website.

As part of the quotation process, the Customer is required to "sign" their understanding and approval by tick box of the Prohibited and Restricted Items List. To make this as clear as possible, these lists appear as individual "pop-up" hyperlinks so that the Customer can check their contents prior to confirming their booking. Additionally, we warn customers that any additional compensation cover which is purchased for an item contained on the Prohibited or Restricted Lists will be invalidated and these items will be sent at the owners risk.  It is not possible to confirm your booking without agreeing that the contents of your consignment conform with the listing.

Although we ask for a description of the contents of the consignment, due to the automated nature of the booking process it is not possible for us to verify each consignment and its contents.

In regards to the contents of the Prohibited & restricted List, these are supplied by the couriers themselves based upon considerable experience and are in place to protect the customer. Their networks make considerable use of mechanical handling and automated sortation equipment together with multiple shipments on and off vehicles which can result in damage to certain items or materials despite the packaging. As such, we do not believe that the content of this list can be viewed as unreasonable
