This Company sent a very authentic looking mail, that stated they
could provide a certified copy of the deed to my house. My house is
paid for and I want the DEED. I attached credit card information and
sent back via US mail on March 24, 2011. Five days later(3-29-2011) my
bank was charged. The company has not sent the deed and is not
answering their phones or emails. Boy, do I have "egg on my face" , as I
am usually good at detecting a scam.

Call your credit card company, tell them about this and even if they cant get the money back, they will change your card number so this company doesn't take anymore money.
When you paid off the house you were sent the Deed, if you paid it off in the last month or three, it will be coming. Call the mortgage company you paid off, they have the Deed, not some random web site.
You can also contact the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office www. ccrd. info without the spaces of course.

Why?

Why would you go to some company for a copy of your deed instead of your County Clerk's Office?
This makes no sense whatsoever. Please explain why you didn't ask your County Clerk's Office for a copy.
