The person who called identified as Phoenix Knight said she can sell me a coverage for my car until 2020 for just one payment of $319.00 and in case of a claim, there is going to be a $100 deduction. Though I thought it's a bit pricey, I agreed and paid with a credit card. I was in shock to get a booklet in my mailbox with a contract stating that I actually signed for $3197.00. It followed by a letter from a billing company explaining how the money is going to be taken from my account monthly. Needless to say, that had I got all the information from that person, I would have never agreed to buy such an expensive warranty. Upon receiving the information, I immediately contacted the number she gave me just to find out that it is no longer in service. I contacted the company and was disconnected 4 times after the representative told me that they have to either trace the initial call or that their computer is slow. I tried calling the billing company - MEPCO and was hit the wall of an answer: there is nothing we can do. I have no doubt that I am a victim of a fraud.

Explain to your credit card company now that you tried to cancel through the warranty company and they misrepresented the price and now you can't reach them. Your credit card company will follow the procedure for fraud and stop future charges. File a complaint with the CFPB and the FTC. Do this right away so they don't continue to charge you. She obviously gave you a phony name and scammed you. Take steps to protect yourself from this type of common scam.
