I made the decision to move from North Dakota to Florida, and I thought I would go online and check to compare what it would cost to have someone load, deliver, and unload my belongings versus renting a truck and doing it all myself. I received a call from Joey Pino from Nationwide Relocation, and he explained what it would cost for exactly what I was looking for. He told me that someone would pack, load, deliver, and unload my belongings for a total of $2485.79. He explained that all I had to do was lay a deposit of $735.18 down and he would get the rest done. So, I thought about it, and thought this was about equal to what it would have costed if I rented a truck and did this all myself, so I put $800.00 on my card, and the next day they sent me a contract with my belongings list and weight, and also a deposit slip for me to sign for the $735.18. I asked all the right questions about how exactly this worked, like how do they know how much weight I had, and he explained that he always puts an overweight estimate, so there wouldn't be any surprises in the end. This was done on March 26, 2008, and March 31,2008 they had their deposit, and Joey said there was nothing else to do until the pick up date, which was scheduled for June11-12. I never heard anything from them except when I called Joey to add something to my list, and he said that someone would be calling me 5-7 days prior to pickup and to add anything then. Joey was a very smooth talker, and somehow he got me to believe in him, well when June10th came around, I decided to call Joey and ask if he had an approxiamate time the movers would be showing up. He then told me that he didn't have a carrier at that time. I asked him "what does that mean?" And all he said was that they had no carrier and that they had overbooked and took my truck off. So, I asked when would they have someone available, and he said tomorrow, so needless to say, for the next 9 days, that's all I kept hearing, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, and etc. I was expected to be in Florida by the 15th of June, and I had to move into a motel for those nine days, because I had everything packed and everything shut off,(phone, cable, internet). I never heard from Joey unless I called him first and he told me the same thing everytime, NO CARRIER!! He even as much as told me that his dispatcher told him that "Worse case scenario....Sunday", and he told me that on Tuesday!! Well needless to say, no one called me Friday, Saturday, or even Sunday, and my landlord was calling me wanting to know when I would be out completely, and I couldn't tell him because I didn't know myself. He had someone who he sold the trailer to wanting to get moved in because they were told I would ne out by the 15th. So after the nine days went by, I finally got pissed off enough and called around and found a 14' truck and trailer and loaded everything, and finally left that following Saturday. I did finally arrive in Florida on June 25th, extremely tired and very angry and emotionally upset because I had to use all of my savings to get this done. Now I am here with no savings to rely on, no job because I wasn't here when I was suppose to be, and now no money to go back home if I fail!!!
I hope everyone else who decides on making a move that they research ALL their resources and more importantly....STAY AWAY FROM NATIONWIDE RELOCATION SERVICES!! It's not fair that this company should be allowed to continue to screw around with people's lives like they do, and pay no penalty for doing so. This company needs to be out of business!! I will be pursuing this to get my money back and will do whatever I have to make sure I do.
