I'm warning everyone of how they ripoff active duty military soldiers. I had got a used car back in 2010 and financed through Navy Federal Credit Union. Knowing I receive a check on the 1st and 15th of each month being I was active duty in the Army. They decided to take advantage of me and charged me a 24% intrest rate to the car. My credit score had nothing to do with it because I had around 730 score.  The used car was about $16,000.00. I was a first time car buyer so didn't really know a whole lot about how intrest rates worked. So anyways I got the car financed through Navy Federal and was never late on a payment for or missed a payment for 3 years. I paid about $18,000.00 to the car within the 3 years. I was forced out of the military due to not having anyone to watch my 2 children while I deployed so times got hard trying to make a car payment of $421.53 each month plus trying to afford a home and take care of 2 children on top of that. I explained to them what was going on and asked if I could refinance. They said the can do drop it to $388.00 a month.

Long story short I ended up getting behind on payments because of my situation and they repossesed my car and auctioned it off. They said I still owed $19,000.00 on the car that I need to pay. They would not work with me at all on payments at least until I could figured something out. They were very rude... So they got $18,000.00 out of me for the car, more than what the car was even worth. Plus whatever the auctioned it off for. Now they are garnishing my wages $412.00 a month till it's paid in full. So I lost the car plus am now paying for a this car I don't even have. I will never in my life get anything with Navy Federal again and I warn everyone about them and how they treat military soldiers. I had a few other soldiers that were in my company that also complained about intrest rates with Navy Federal. They theif soldiers of as much money as they can get out of you because they know you will always get a check.  So check the interest rate and know the type of company you are dealing with!

Same story from Navy Federal again and again

AUTHOR: Jacob - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The story told here I have heard a lot with Navy Federal.  The bank is one of the rudest organizations I have ever come into contact with during both my military and civilian career.  If a person pays bills perfectly and has perfect credit, then Navy Federal is the best bank ever.  But, start having difficulties paying the bills or have a lapse in payment then the bank will turn very nasty very fast.

The most common scenario is when someone has to leave active duty and take a pay cut and then NFCU will refuse to work with the individual to lower payments and will even resort to personal attacks if bills don’t get paid.  In dealing with their credit representatives for over five years, I was routinely called names, my family was insulted, and more than once NFCU would outright use threats to contact both my civilian employment and law enforcement in order to get their money.

Now, this is not to say that one should be fiscally irresponsible.  However, yes, people will have life crisis and income cuts and in those situations a customer friendly bank, with dedicated representatives who are there to help would be nice.  NFCU is not that way.  A call center full of very judgmental people, half of whom curse at customers and lie themselves is what you get.  So, don’t ever use this bank.

And yes, I completely agree that the rebuttals from people bashing those of us talking about NFCU are most definitely NFCU employees sent to this site to discredit those who speak against their bank.  In fact, it’s exactly the type of thing I would except from Navy Federal Credit Union.

To gets facts straight since obviously you have no idea about anything that went on... Like I said in the prior complaint... All was paid on time. I got in a bind/hard time just as I'm sure everyone gets in at least once in their life. I tried to get them to work with me on payments... never said I didn't plan on paying them... they wouldn't work with me in any type of way... So please know what you are talking about before bashing people... it is clear to me you work for these people because any complaints that have been made on Navy Federal you are constantly defending Navy Federal... Most companies will work with you through tough times as long as you are still making some type of payments... Navy Federal didn't... I hope I made myself clear... And please use spell check next time you make a posting so it's easier to read...

You buy a car. NFCU agrees to loan you money for the purcahse. You sign up. Correct so far? Good. the you have circumstances which change your life. NFCU ants you tp pay them back the money you borrowed. You can't.

And somehow NFCU is responsible? Why?

Oh your are "fibbing" about the numbers you claim.

h*e about telling the truth.

I borrowed money for  a car. Couldn't pay it back. Lender takes car back, and garnishes your wages until it is paid.

And then you go on ROR to bash the lender.

You should be ashamed of your self.

Sigen, someone who pays his bills on time.
