NC Furniture Buy Direct Blood, Sweat, and Tears - or - How I got my money back from NC Furniture Buy Direct High Point North Carolina

I ordered furniture from NC Furniture Buy Direct in March, and paid in full with my credit card. In June we tried to get a status and found out that they "had a problem" with the manufacturer and it would be another 8-10 weeks before they would be able to deliver. They also said that if this was unacceptable that we could cancel and get a full refund.

We requested the full refund (in writing - as they stated) and we waited. After a few weeks we called and they said "due to the high number of refunds and the company reorganization it would be another 2-3 weeks before they could process a refund". We told them this was quite unacceptable.

We kept trying for the next 3 weeks to get a refund, meanwhile working with our credit card company to get a "charge back". NCFBD kept saying it would be "another 3 weeks" (for several weeks) and refused to credit us. I complained to the BBB, the NC Attorney General's office, and faxed complaints to the company and sent certified letters to the owner and the business. None of this resulted in any satisfaction-- or money.

Finally our credit card decided that this business was acting fraudently and filed a chargeback. Eventually (after another 90 days) we got our money back in full (thanks to the credit card company! - NO THANKS TO NCFBD!!).

The NC Attorney General's office did eventually call and ask if we had received a refund. We said yes, explained it, and they said that "it didn't matter how we got it"...

BOO! If you have companies that force the credit card companies to refund the money from a purchase you can not or will not deliver, then your business is running illegally. I will NEVER buy any furniture from them again.
