I received a bill from NCO Financial saying I owed $8,555.67 to a Chase Providian account. I was shocked. I have never had this account. I contacted NCO via telephone, the man who answered the phone was very rude when I told him about receiving this notification that I have no clue what it is. He told me, "Well you must owe it or you wouldn't be receiving this bill." I was then put on hold for at least 5 minutes or more (now, keep in mind, he did not even ask me at that time any information about me or the account).

He returns to the phone, asks me the account number, tells me, "yes you owe $8,555.67 and it is an originated account from Chase Providian which was opened up in 1989 and last payment was in 2000".

I told the man that I have never had a Chase Providian account and I don't know what he is talking about. He proceded to raise his voice to me and tell me that I know about it and I will have to pay it!! He said, "Oh, come on you want to tell me that you don't know anything about this account". That really pissed me off...I raised my voice and told him that no I did not know about it and he needed to listen to me!

He tells me, "no he doesn't have to listen to me". I told him he was a rude s****.> I called back, asking if he was the owner of this company, and what his name was. He never would say. Then he told me, "Ma'm do not ever call my office again." He then hung up!

Usually, I do not curse at people as such as I did him. This man had no customer service skills whatsoever and simply did not want to help me. He just wanted to accuse me and make me feel like I was at fault and I know I am not. I want these people prosecuted for somehow stealing my identity, for trying to ruin my credit. I have impeckable credit and someone like this is not going to take me down before I can take them down.

If I owe it and it is ligit then that is one thing and I would make the arrangements to pay it off, but prove it to me first!!!

Someone needs to obviously put these people out of business and quick!

I have received the same letter (along with may others it appears). I did not contact NCO by phone and recommend that no one who receives this letter do so either.

You will have to dispute the charge by Certified, return receipt anyway. And from what I've seen not much good comes from speaking to anyone there.
