*Consumer Suggestion: NEVER give these PUNKS your SS# !!!....OR anything else!
*Consumer Suggestion: How to stop them from calling you
This company has called my house, and my brothers house. When I called the company back they could not find my information by my phone number, my brothers phone number or my social security number yet I am receiving phone calls and mailings that I owe American Express $1485.00.
I would like to know how they got my information and my brothers when neither of us is listed in any telephone directory in the US. I need to find out how to stop them from calling me and my family members about an account that I called them about and could not find in any of their systems.

NEVER give these PUNKS your SS# !!!....OR anything else!

Anja,
This is what these punks do! They lie, cheat and steal. They flat out lied to you. I know for a fact that if they called you, they can pull up your "account" with your phone#.
They were fishing for information they DID NOT have, and you gave it to them.
They are PUNKS and are totally powerless. They cannot do squat to you. You should never even take the call. Never speak to them!
I like to blow a police whistle in the ear of the stupid a*s crackhead collctor and just picture his/her eardrums bleeding all over the desk. That is total satisfaction!
This is just one trick, I have more.
Send the CEASE COMMUNICATIONS letter by the means on the above post.
NCO has paid the largest FTC fine in history for these types of violations.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
How to stop them from calling you
AUTHOR: Becky - (U.S.A.)

Anja,
NCO is a debt collections agency that purchases debts that are usually beyond the legal statutes of limitations. Unfortunately, even if your phone number is unlisted, various institutions do make your personal information available to any agency that has an interest in finding out contact information about you (such as telemarketers and collections offices).
It is not surprising that individuals at NCO were unable to provide you with specifics about the debt they claim you owe. The same happened to me and many others. They are not interested in finding out specifics, as to what the debt is for and if you are the actual debtor. All they care about is that you pay. Paying them, unfortunately, will not stop them from reporting this debt on your credit file (or demanding future payments).
What you should do is write them a letter disputing the debt and demand they send you all documentation they have that substantiates this debt (including original contract with American Express containing your signature to open the account, copy of billing statement from the time of purchase on which they are trying to collect, original date of delinquency, description and amount of what the unpaid purchase was for). In this letter state they have thirty days to respond in writing with all documentation. A print-out from their computer is not enough to substantiate the debt.
Include in this letter your expressed wish that they cease all forms of communication with you other than writing. By law, they must stop calling you and your family upon receiving this request. Also state in this letter that if they cannot provide you with copies of legal documentation substantiating this debt within the thirty days, that they must close this account and send you written notice that this has happened.
In addition, state in your letter that while this debt is in dispute all further attempts to collect this debt must stop. They may not report to any credit agency. Such action is in direct violation of your rights under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
Send your letter to them certified with return receipt.
After thirty days, if you receive no written response from them (or if you receive a simple letter stating they verified the debt without the documentation you request), send them another letter. This time demand they cease all communication with you and close this account. Demand they stop any reporting to any credit bureau and notify them the account is closed because that debt cannot be substantiated. In addition, if NCO has made any reporting of this debt to the credit bureaus, they must contact the bureaus and remove those reports.
If you haven't done so, you should check your credit report with all three bureaus. It is quite possible NCO is reporting your debt. If they are, you should have the credit bureaus include a statement from you that you are currently disputing the report by NCO. Though it is NCO's job to report the dispute upon receiving your letter, you can't trust they will make that contact.
Don't let NCO intimidate you with letters and phone calls. It is their job to prove to you
the debt exists. Until they do, they have no business demanding anything from you.
