Nelnet is a poor excuse as a Loan collector, or whatever they want to call themselves. I have been paying them back for my student loan almost a year now and the problem is these Money Hoggers don't have my ssn correct. I have sent in all the correct paper work they asked for to have this problem resolve as well as emailed them. Still they cannot get it right, telling me they are waitng on the Gurantor. Well were is the Gurantor! This is no excuse I am very upset, they are not responding to my emails, I've been scammed before by a diaper wipe!  and this feels just like another one.

I have spoken to several different reps. and the only thing they can tell me is it will be resolved as soon as the Gurantor review it. Well when they were trying to get me to make payments they rang my phone off the hook. Now these sorry, sorry people cannot get my information correct.  I cannot even create a profile because the system don't know me. Well I will be calling them tomorrow to stop my online bill payments going forward.

Ways to correct it

AUTHOR: SLinsider - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 22, 2014

When you call in, they can correct the matter (if they haven't already) by getting ahold of a supervisor with security clearance to access the Department of Education's website that holds your original Master Promisory Note (MPN) when you originally took out the loans. They may have to wander for a supervisor who has access, but that's one way they can alter it without you sending anything in since that is proof in itself. Mind you, it may not be on file, even if they find a supervisor who has access. (Warning: it may take them time to hunt a willing supervisor down, be gentle)

That may be why they are needing the guarantor as well. They may be the ones holding onto that original document. I would find out through Nelnet who the guarantor is and Nelnet will have access to their phone number for you to put pressure on them as well. I think that would put pressure on the right people for you.

If that doesn't work, (or if you've already been on that goosechase), you can send a copy of your social security card and driver's license (with account number(s) attached) to correct the matter at:
