Nelnet has reported 3 different times, on the same day, for the same loan, to my credit. I was told it would be deferred a total of 12 months, even on my credit report it says deferred.

When I ask them why it was reported to my credit 2/2008 while supposedly deferred till 3/2008 they claim it back tracked and ended in an earlier date then I was told.

I have had so many misleading & dishonest conversations with Nelnet I could go on and on. From now on I will record my conversations with them. They do these things to people because they're the government, and they think we're inadequate.

NELNET IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT

AUTHOR: josie taylor - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, February 04, 2012

NELNET IS A NON - PROFIT CORPORATION WHO OPERATES IN EVERY STATE. THEY ARE A HIGHERED ENTITY BY THE US DEPT OF ED. HOWEVER, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THE GOVERNMENT, THEY HAVE A LOT MORE LIABILITY AGAINST THEM AS OPPOSED TO THE US DEPT OF ED.

IN A NUT SHELL, IF THEY HAVE REPORTED FALSE STATEMENTS TO VARIOUS CREDIT BUREAUS, WHY ARE YOU ALLOWING THEM TO GET AWAY WITH IT?

JOSIE

Nelnet

Nelnet is a FSA contractor, they're not the govt. (FSA= Federal Student Aid) The company doesn't want to screw you over, but they also are not overly keen on keeping you informed. I'm an ex-employee of this company actually and I know their practices. They keep on going with you all the way until one thing falls in their lap of responsibility; then it's your fault for not following up sooner. This is a crappy company but it's unfortunately legit. Keep documentation and read everything put in front of you; if you do everything online; save it and access what documentation you have before trying to apply something onto the account. If you call customer service, they'll put you through the wringer all the way with many different questions, but you need to ask about ALL the possibilities not just the first one. Get a very clear picture of what they're saying and if you don't understand tell them PLEASE. The supervisors and management doesn't care about their current employees and I don't forsee that changing any time too soon. If all else fails and you feel given up on, ask for a "customer solutions specialist", these people are the black ops of the csr world in Nelnet. They'll help you understand.

Credit Reporting

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

Even though the loan is deferred it will still be reported on your credit file. It is possible that you may have several different loans with Nelnet. Check your credit file and the account number shown for each account. If they are the same number you could put in a credit dispute online to have duplicate accounts removed.

Remember to check all three credit companies. Transunion, equifax, and experian.
