Netdetective Misleading, pay the fee, and then find out you still have to pay more fees to actually find out anything Internet

I paid their $29.00 sign up fee, so I could do a background check on someone who is living in my house (roomate) and I have fears they are dangerous, probably with a criminal background. What I found out is that for your $29.00 fee, the only information you are allowed to look up is previous addresses and phone numbers. Of course, you don't really know which "john doe" is which. You do searches by name only, and it pulls up every "john doe" on record for the state you are searching, but unless you know for a fact where they have lived before, and their previous phone numbers, you have no way of knowing which "john doe" is yours.

The irony is that I know the guys drivers license number, and his social security number, and yet I cannot look him up by that, which is the most specific way to look someone up by. So I have a long list of people with the same name as him, and I have no idea which one is him.

Ok, but here is where it gets worse ---there is an expand button next to each name / person, which says "see more". You click on this button and it opens up a pane. Here is a direct copy and paste of some of what is in the pane:

Each one of those "Find Out More!" texts is a LINK, when you click on the link, a pop-up window comes up telling you that you need to pay a $10 processing fee. In the bottom left corner a little box is auto-checked for you, and next to the box it says " I would like to have continuous monthly access to the Law Enforcement Edition for $29.95 per month."

So here you are paying an additional $39.95 to find out information, that you thought you already paid for.

Basically all you are allowed to see is the previous addresses and phone numbers listed for that name. Anything more, and you must pay more then the original sign up fee.

The irony is I read a "un-biased" review of background search websites, and they ranked netdetective as no. 1, and the guy kept raving about how superior netdetective is, and how he easily found all the information he wanted. He FAILED to mention anything about additional fees everytime you want more then an old address and phone number. I'm convinced the review website I read was funded by netdetective.

I honestly feel like a sucker, and I hope you don't fall for this type of crap either. Just be warned that if you want to get any detailed info on people, it is like going to cost you more like $70.00 (assuming that they don't have more convenient pop-up windows that request more money). You've been warned.
