i bought the nettalk duo due to their very cheap price. So, i transferred/ported my existing number from Vonage to nettalk. for initial 1-2 months, vonage had trouble releasing my number and nettalk will not help. So, i had to follow up with Vonage frequently. Then after 4-5 months, seems vonage released my number and now, nobody can call me. Everyone gets a message "number is disconnected or out of service". If you call the customer support, you would have to wait for 30 mins or 1 hr on the phone. If you email them, they would respond in 2-3 days.

Nettalk took $148 with taxes for 1 year of service up-front and its been approx 6 months now and nobody from India can call me.

i had called them couple of times already after spending hours on the phone just to speak to a Respresentative.  i feel like I have been cheated..

Nettalk customer service sucks

AUTHOR: Umesh - (United States of America)

I had called up nettalk support 2-3 times already and after waiting 1 hr on the phone. Its been more than 2 weeks now and nobody can call me. I had mailed their Billing dept cs@nettalk.com and they too take their own sweet time. I had demanded a refund of the rest of my money that I paid for 1 year of International plan and all they say is I am able to make calls, so there is no refund.

Other hassles to consider:

The international calls have problems and get dropped randomly.

Still, people on the other side complain, they can't hear me properly or to speak up.

And most of all, there is no customer support available when you need them.

#3 UPDATE Employee

netTALK.com Inc.

AUTHOR: NetTALK Support - (United States of America)

netTALK Customer,

We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience with netTALK and our support. We assure you that our support agents are working around the clock assisting all of our customers at a manageable and humane pace. Let us start by addressing the financial portion of this case:

the netTALK DUO device cost $34.95 for the DUO II, $49.95 for the DUO and $64.95 for the DUO WiFi (+Tax). Our yearly services are a one time fee of $29.95 (+tax). When you first purchase your unit, it comes with the year of service already. There is no need to purchase an additional year of service unless you were at the end of your year and you received an email stating that you were close to expiring. Even with an extra year of service added to the original purchasing price, the total would not have been $148.

The only way $148 would have been made possible is if you would have purchased an International Calling Plan, which was not stated in your report, but was, presumably, implied when you mentioned "nobody from india can call me".

Let us now focus on the Number Porting isuse you were experiencing: We understand that porting can be tricky with other phone companies, as they have special requirements before you move on to another service provider. magicjack doesnt
state that you must first contact them and request a PIN and a Password that is attached to the phone number. Vonage requires that you contact them and request to open up the number for porting. When processing a port request, the company that is going to receive the ported number (in this case: netTALK) has no control over the other companies policies or porting requirements. We simply request the number and await for it to be ported into our system.

netTALK does not force or push, for the other company, to release their numbers nor do we lock our own numbers. If you ever wish to port your number out from netTALK, there is no hidden fees or special requirements that must be matched. You simply request the number and we release it to the other service provider.

Thank you for your time
