NetZero CANCELLATION FEE FOR MONTH TO MONTH INTERNET SERVICE Woodland Hills California
My daughter is a disabled veteran and used Netzero for internet service because they offer limited useage free. She is on a very, very limited income and needed to do some research on the internet for VA employment that would have taken more online time than she is given each month for free.
I told her I would help her by paying for a couple of months of service for her. I put the Netzero charges on My credit card. I cancelled the service after 2 months.
After 3 months I got a charge for $25 for a cancellation fee. I did not commit to any annual contracts but month to month. Apparently they have 2 contracts and if you know any differently, they put you in an annual contract and then charge you a $25 cancellation fee.
The customer service people are rude and unreasonable. I have called numerous times to try to resolve this issue and none of their representatives speak English. (middle eastern accent) They did try to blackmail me by saying that if I would sign up again they could switch the account to the month to month plan and then when I cancelled there would be no cancellation fee.
Do yourself a big favor. stay clear of Netzero. They don't have the best rates. try PeoplePC for half the cost and PeoplePC's customer service people speak English.
After all this trouble with them, I checked the internet and found a boat load of other people who have cancellation issues with Netzero and issues with them making charges on their credit card after service has been discontinued.
Moral of the story- No good deed goes unpunished. I was only trying to help my daughter for a couple of months and ending up paying more for 2 months service with Netzero than if I had used PeoplePC for 11 months.
People need to complain about all the companies ripping off consumers so others won't be hurt.
