I am making a change in my decision about Neuton Battery Mowers on my ripoff report I left about them and I want to say I apologize for making this report. While they are not perfect as businesses have problems as Neuton Battery Mowers did but nobody is perfect. I am not a fan of RR and wished I never used this site for making complaints on businesses. Since they do not allow authors to remove reports I am left leaving a sorry note to Neuton Battery Mowers. I was complaining over giving my old gas mower to the City exchange for a Neuton Mower, when I first used it I didn’t like it at all and wanted my old gas mower back but the City dissembled it right away. It was my childhood mower and I felt sad it was gone and while I had to deal with Neuton to get my money back, I did a lot of research on mowers afer reading the labels made in Taiwan when my gas mower was made in USA.

Neuton is inventive and that they should be credit on and I failed to really look at their aspect of it, they were clean cut looking mowers, nice wheels and etc, I didn’t really like the cut and plastic body in my view but it is still a nice design.

Yes there are other cordless mowers and yes I have another USA made cordless mower but after some thought I decided to think Neuton is trying to make a difference and I should of not of discredit them and made this report. I regret it and I am truly sorry to Neuton Mowers for making this report.  

I understand their business and sometimes things can be difficult and dealing with customers, I didn’t make it any easier. I made this report as I was upset and I really regretted writing this report. I want people to do well in their business and I want to say I am sorry for making this report on Neuton Mowers.

I also think it would be a good idea if Neuton should consider making electric mowers, since batteries wear out, electric mowers never do and they have the same power as a real gas mower as well. Electric is still another alternative to cordless too.

I am sorry I made this report, please accept my apologies as I had a change of heart and want to say I am sorry as much as I think they may feel the same way.

I realize some people don't like the Neuton for various reasons. We like it because it's far more fuel-efficient, far less noisy, and lighter and easier to push than other mowers. Yes, the case is plastic, but it's very tough and contributes to the light weight of the mower.

The cut is not the biggest, but there is a newer, more expensive mower with a wider blade and more powerful motor. The cut is adequate to our 1/3 acre yard. The new battery used to mow the lawn on a full charge. Now it takes 2-3 charges, but that was expected when we purchased the mower.

The Neuton's battery lasted us two full summers of weekly mowing. It's still holding a short charge, but we need a new battery. I do agree that I wish the Neuton was US-made, but then, I wish every car driving down our roads was made in our country.

The Earthwise products I researched (June 2008) were made in China, not the USA.

Top of the line Black & Decker mower was made in Mexico, not the USA. Email confirmed (July 2008).

So far the only electric mower that I can confirm is made in the USA is the Remington. I just got off the phone with the rep who confirmed it was made in the USA (July 2008).

I have not checked on the Sears product line yet.

I have owned a Neuton mower since August 2005. It has performed exactly as I expected. I still have gripes about the mower, but I did know it would have these issues when I purchased it. The small 13 1/2" blade requires twice as many passes; therefore twice as long to mow my lawn. The mulching blade is even smaller and in my opinion is useless. One of the two batteries I bought is no longer holding a full charge. I believe they're lead acid variety and this is to be expected after 2-3 years. Replacement batteries are obnoxiously expensive. $100 range. So you won't save anything on gas/maintenance as suggested on the Neuton site. You will simply use that money to buy more batteries.

It powers through my fescue lawn as well as a gas mower. The trimming/edger attachment is pretty cool and easy to use. It's light weight and quiet. Yes, the deck is made of plastic, but it's durable and strong. The one lever height adjustment is a neat trick. Some reason gas mowers don't do this?

Would I buy another? Neuton has come out with a 19", more expensive version. Addressing my biggest complaint. But considering what's available today at lesser prices and made in the USA, I wouldn't buy or suggest a Neuton mower. Consider a corded model at half the price of the battery operated ones. If you can't figure out how to manage the cord, you're not likely to be smart enough to figure out how to plug it in anyhow.

I didn't have a good experience with my Neuton. The mower wasn't great at cutting tall grass or could I rely on Neuton's customers service to suggest answers. They don't have the dual option of the cord such as the Remington has, that is a real plus in my opinion if the battery runs down or you need 120 volt power to cut anything like a gas mowe can. So I am want to add my 2 cents
too here. Neuton is so so product and yes it is made in Taiwan not USA as the
above guy said. The Remington mower in my opinion is a much better mower
than the Neuto, I agree and it is made in Kentucky so it is safe doing with safety regulations and warranties concern with. I am really happy I switched

This is a chat message I had with Neuton and I thought I post how bad they are
when handing complaints, nothing was resolved as you can read below. So if you have a Neuton and it works for you, that's fine, it didn't solve my needs. I too was looking for something cool looking and does the job and also support the US in buying US products if I can find them. I think what needs to be said though Neuton can not be replied on, it only makes 2 movers and just a couple of parts, that's all they are. Remington is a bigger company, also Craftman, Black & Decker, samething, so if you want to reply on limited service and a product that is so so, than Neuton may not be the product for you, that is my 2 cents.

I have owned and used a Neuton mower for over three years now. I cut a 1/3 acre lot on a single charge with power to spare. My mower has never broken down nor have I had a single problem with it. Yes, it is largely plastic, but that makes it light and easy to work with. It is quieter than my vacuum cleaner, which is great. No need - ever - for gas, which is great. I have nothing but good thugs to say about it. The original poster seems to have a grudge against things not 100% made in the U.S. Certainly a patriotic stance, and one they are free to have, but the actual product works great. I highly recommend it.

Ok, if you want to find a battery lawn mower and is better than Neuton, there are several brands that are making them and made in USA too.

Earthwise, Craftsman, Black & Decker, Remington and some more battery
mowers than blow Neuton's cheap lawn mower away.

I contacted Neuton which I informed them I wasn't happy with the quality, the cutting quality, the battery life (as it is does not have a dual option for power cords if the battery if dead, there is no ac/dc outlet), the Neuton parts are expensive and where it was being manufactured (Taiwan). Neuton agreed as their have been some calls from other customers over gas and theirs, some people still prefer gasoline because of the shift drive and if some users only use gas less often than a battery is this is not the best option (as the Neuton battery can discharged itself slowly, not always but they recommend you have 2 batteries so you have a refill if one is dead). Gasoline is still the best for professional lawn mowing though as cordless has not be really tested or meant for professional use just yet. The options on gas mowers today is they are more efficient and use less gas like Toros, Lawn Boys, Craftsman, Yard Machines and etc are making less fueled engines today, so gas is also still something to consider even if gas is $5.00 a gallon or maybe $10.00 a gallon in the future, they burn less fuel.

I spent quite a bit of time looking and sampling products. Looking for non gas units and where they are manufactured was my quest after I went through the Neuton issue. I found several cordless USA made lawn mowers (with an ac/dc option)with battery life and better cutting ability than the Neuton. A US company called Earthwise makes a 20 inch blade with a battery time better than the Neuton. One of the drawbacks with the Neuton is the handles are too weak, they twist and flop up & down too much, not having a solid feel or solid control of the mower, even though it is light, it is not a solid feel like a gas mower with solid medal handles. Earthwise does have a more solid handle than Neuton does, much better feel but the cutting is a lot smoother looking. The Neuton looks like a weed wackier after cutting the lawn as the wheels are too wide and it doesn't cut sharp on angels or cornering. I just was not happy with the quality of the cutting ability with it or even the noise level. Even though it is lighter and a battery, these things still have a lot of noise even next to a gas mower when I viewed them together (maybe not as loud but still loud).

Earthwise is a 20 inch blade, ac/dc outlet, made in USA, from Target there is free shipping and also a lifetime warranty from the company and batteries are good up to 5 to 10 years. Neuton does not offer a great warranty compared to Earthwise as I have viewed both and contacted Earthwise as well.

The other cordless model which has ac/dc option is the Remington Cordless Power Mower but the blade is only 17 inches which I have to check if they will have a 20 inch

Homelite has a 20 inch cordless which is not bad either but manufactured in China, so I turned this one down but also it didn't have a ac/dc option either. Too bad though, shame on Homelite for making
this machine in China instead of USA.

So I am going to recommend to my city government to pick a USA made battery lawn mower if one of these manufactures or another one comes to mind, a buy back program to get people to turn their gas engines in if it is what they want for a trade in for some money towards a battery lawn mower (some people may not like battery mowers either way, so it isnt for everybody to go battery as gas mowers are still better). In my home town Neuton was the company backed by the city as I am going to try to get them to consider other products not only to help the environment but also our country by buying USA made products. Neuton simply is not in the business to do both so (as Neuton is more expensive than USA products which really doesnt make sense anyway when they should be cheaper as they make their mowers in Taiwan, not USA) that was a big turn down for me. I would strongly suggest sampling other battery mowers to see and feel the difference though but also in the next 2 to 3 years, Lawn Boy, Toro, Yard Machines and etc will have battery mowers which maybe even better anyway.
