Alright.  I will try to be as factual as I can about this review and no include any opinion.  This did not happen to me but I very good friend of mine whom I respect immensely and care a lot about, which is why I am making sure no one else gets ripped off like he does.

What was promised:

The car to be delivered to my friend would be a fully swapped and complete Nissan 240SX (S15) with an SR20DET engine, 5 speed transmission, fresh paint, and a nice set of coil overs and wheels.  Other odds-and-ends to clean up the car and complete the swap would be included, enough to justify the $13,000 bill.  The car was to be completely functional in every respect to factory features.

What happened:

The car was picked up 3 months after the initially predicted completion date.  Joshua Steele (who also does nto have a license to sell cars in the state of Texas under his business, lawyer checked that, but he is legally allowed to sell cars under his own name if he does not exceed a certain number of vehicles in a given time period) said several complications happened when the car was being built.  The SR20DET is usally imported from Japan.  With this comes the risk of a bad motor.  When the motor was recieved, it had no compression on one or more cylinders.  THIS IS NOT JOSHES FAULT.  But he did offer my friend two options, a new motor at no cost or boring it larger for an added cost and quicker turnaround.  My friend opted for the quicker turnaround and boring and paid Josh more money.  Remember this, displacement was increased.  So, according to Josh, fresh internals were put in the motor to accomodate the increase in cylinder bore.  My friend periodically stopped at the shop to see how the car was doing and Josh said one day he was going to add HKS Cams to the motor and insisted my friend take a pictures of the box the cams were in. Remember this event too.  Now, to save you time we will fast foward to the point the car is finished and driving.  My friend brings it to me to look over because he is so happy to finally have his driving car.  I have been building cars of all varieties for a number of years, so I only trust my own hand at things.  That being said, I looked over this car thoroughly!  First, I noticed the car had an incomplete body in which Josh said that the only thing needed was blinkers and some over lights, to which he left my friend to do on his own.  The 'widebody kit' was riveted on and painted over.  No body filler was used as would be the case in a professional job.  The paint and body work came at a $2000 premium for my friend (verified on the bill given by NevrSlo).  What does $2000 get you?  Unpainted door jambs, unpainted areas under the hood, and other small areas of unpainted body.  This would also be a good time to note that this was an advantage, because you could then see how the car had been wrecked at some point because the driver-side door was a different color (white), than the rest of the car (red), which was not the color that was painted on (black).  My friend was promised an OEM hood as well, but is still using a fiberglass monstrosity as a hood that flutters at speed.  The interior of the car was also incomplete, having no passenger seat belt after the seat was installed.  Josh again insisted that my friend could handle that.  The windshield washer, radio, horn, blinkers, airbag, speedometer, and high beams also remain unfunctional.  Now, moving on to the engine.  The intercooler used was of a decent grade and silicon couplers were used.  It looked very complete and professional.  The radiator overflow can used was... Uh..  A Smart water bottle.  I cannot make this up.  Under the hood of my friends car is a bottle of Smart water with a tube attached to the top and coolant in it.  It gets worse.  Normally, a turbocharged motor has a blowoff valve or recirculatory valve.  This motor had to have its recirculatory valve removed when it was swapped.  This happens.  But what was not done was the additional of blowoff valve or another valve.  Josh insisted that having the boosted air back surge against the turbo was completely fine and wouldn't harm anything... Sure.  This is false.  This can damage the turbo and cause excessively lean or rich spikes causing engine damage as well.  Moving even further forward, I began to question to cams in the engine since the idle was fantastically smooth.  You may be thinking, "What if the tuning is really good?"  Well, according to the bill recieved with the vehicle, there is *no* tuning to accomodate for the engine being bored OR the removal of the recirculatory valve OR the 'addition' of HKS cams.  Moral of this story?  Upon closer inspection, no HKS logo was found on the camshafts, as HKS prints their logo on ALL their camshafts, though I will eventually be checking the cams with a caliper to see if the specs match that listed on HKS website to determine if my speculations are true.  So, there could be HKS cams in the car, but at this point, all evidece says otherwise.  The A/C is not functional as well and, this part is turely unbelivable, the heater core has been bypassed!  It takes one 4" piece of hose to hook up the heater, but instead, it was just recirculated in to the engine! WHY?!  Now, the issue that really proved to me exactly how unprofession NevrSlo is was when the cooling fans stopped working...  My friend had me inspect it and I followed the positive lead back to the fuse box... huh...  Weird...  Upon opening the fuse box, I found that the positive lead for the fans had been wrapped around the shank of the fuel pump fuse and FORCED back in to the fuse holder and had MELTED the fuse causing a loss in contact!!!  How unprofessional and lazy can you be to not even use a wire splice?  Or solder like you SHOULD have?!  Josh has been traveling a lot lately and insists he will fix everything and I am not sure what he and my friend have discussed, but to this day, not a thing has been fixed and this machine is a rolling example of NevrSlo taking advatage of a buyer and ripping him off in every way imaginable.  This is coming from a shop that is supposedly responsible for "hundreds" of these swaps.  Avoid at all costs.  There are several very reputable shops in the Houston area that carry a great reputation and have much better running examples of the quality they produce.  Use this car as an example of exactly what NevrSlo deems an acceptable product.  I feel it unnessicary at this point to list all the small things like leaking fluid, incorrect tires, broken power steering, etc...

After several failed attempts to set up a meeting with Josh, he finally called to set up a meeting.  He apollogized stating that it is, in fact, FACTORY CAMS in the car.  So $400 was deducted and he is still charging another $100 to repair some of the thigns wrong.  He stated he will not repair the recently developed exhaust leak at the turbo or the power steering.  The only thing mentioned was fixing the lack of blinkers.
