New Credit Financial Alternatives contacted me on my cell phone on 10/22 of this year. Initially I was told that I was approved for a credit card, I believe a mastercard. The salesperson, a woman, wanted my persoal information (social security number, checking account number). My gut told me something wasn't right about the whole thing, but I gave the information anyway. When I was told about the $300.00 deposit, I tried to get out of the agreement.

She told me I could pay the money in $50.00 installments. I told her I didn't have the money. She then took it down to $25.00. I told her I still didn't have the money. She asked me when I would have something to put on the account, I told her 10/28 when I received my paycheck. She read me the information about the catalog card. I agreed to the information she read. I was then switched over to customer service where I was given my customer id number 2324895 and the customer service number (727) 289-0288. I was told that if I couldn't make the payment to call 72 hours in advance. Fine. After I hung up I still felt uneasy about the whole thing. I talked to my sister and ran what happened by her. She told me it sounded like a scam. I told her that I would call them first thing Monday morning and get out of the agreement. I called customer service on 10/25. I was told that in order to close the account

I would have to pay a $35.00 early termination fee. I explained to the customer service rep that if I had been a member for 30 days I could understand the early termination fee, but I had only been a member for 3 days and that even cell phone companies give you 30 days to back out of a contract. He said he understood where I was coming from and that he would close my account without me owing the $35.00. I was given an early termination number: 405201. I thought everything was over, but I was wrong. I discovered %50.00 taken from my account. I couldn't understand where the money went. I found out a few days later that the money was debited from my account to New Credit Financial. I didn't know anything about the money, nor did I authorize them to take the money. I closed the account, or atleast I thought I did, on 10/25. I called customer service on 11/05. I spoke to a young woman who looked at my account and saw that I was given a termination number, but the account wasn't closed. She told me that the money was still in transit and that she couldn't do anything. She said I could call back on 11/15 (which is today) to get a full refund.

Well, I called customer service this morning only to be told that I would have to pay a $60.00 termination fee in order to get my $50.00 refunded. I told the customer service rep that was ridiculous and tried to reason with them. They didn't want to help me. They kept insisting that I agreed to pay that and they could play back the verbal contract that shows I agreed to pay that. I told them that I would continue to call back. After calling back several times, someone said they would give me a $15.00 refund. I declined that offer. I'm writing this report to let other people know that this company is a scam. They will promise you one thing and then say something else. Don't give out information to companies and individuals you did not contact first. Hopefully my story will keep other unsuspecting people with less than perfect credit from falling in the same trap.
