About a month ago, I recieved a phone call from a company claiming to be CitiFinancial. I was then told I was getting a Visa Card accepted at over 1500 locations worldwide. I recieved a card and some catalogs from New Credit Financial.

They told me that I would recieve a verification form to fill out and return to them before they debited my account $300.00. They took the money out two days before I received the form...which was supposed to come one week before I got it. This resulted in NSF in my account...no big deal. Pfft.

The big deal is this IS NOT what I was told I was getting and they ARE NOT who they claimed to be. Thus, what gives them the right to do what they did in debiting my account? A recording of my voice? Well, if indeed they recorded my voice they have this guy named Sean/Shawn (claimed to be his name anyway) on the recording telling me I was recieving a Visa from CitiFinancial as he would not shut the hell up during the recording I was supposed to be listening to and responding to.

If it helps, at that point my only source of income was SSDI for being schizo-effective, and have not been on medication since April 2005.

Well I am gonna leave it at this before I get all sorts of uncivil and get in trouble for it. Have a nice day!

Something resembling victory

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 09, 2006

Today, I recieved a letter from the BBB. Enclosed was a response from the lawyers representing NCFA, which looked exactly like the letter I recieved before. I was about to become upset, again, when I noticed that items 6 & 7 on the list were different, stating: Due to the actions of Dean, the money will be credited back to his account; and : No further action will be taken against Dean.
YAY! *HAPPY DANCE*
So, I guess I won...sort of. I still don't like being called a liar, and I didn't get much of an in-depth report about actions taken against NCFA from the BBB. Within the last week, the MN Attorney General's office mailed me the same thing that they did before, except stating that they had not heard back from NCFA yet and mailed a copy as well to them.
So, seems this is the end of this little chapter, I guess. Thank you for this web site and the services you provide. I hope to visit again sometime, preferably for a different reason though. Thanks and have a good one!

Contact CitiFinancial Again

AUTHOR: Cassandra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 30, 2005

Peronally, if I found myself in this situation, I would be calling all the way up the CifiFinancial tree. They probably won't be able to help you at the branch level, but they can probably give you a customer service number to call. I'm sure you'll have to press a whole bunch of numbers and talk to 10 different people, but you might get the right person on the line. CitiFinancial is a subsidiary of CitiGroup (Citicards, etc), and their reputation could be damaged if there is another company using their name and ripping people off.
Also, when you talk to someone, get their first and last name, extension # or department #....don't be shy about asking for a supervisor if need be.
Good Luck!

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 04, 2005

Alright, so I get a letter from Bethany Roza of the BBB, saying they contacted NCFA. Fredrick Jameson of legal affairs from NCFA I assume, states I entered a valid contract which was recorded gave em permission was informed of non-refundable $300, that I was informed it was not a major credit card, am encouraged to use my card, and no fund will be refunded.
What do I have to say F*** THAT! So here's the problem...wth do I do now?

Citifinancial got back to me

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 15, 2005

I sent a e-mail to CitiFinancial, I forgot to mention it. Kim Coates responded and informed me that CitiFinancial does not offer credit cards and only offers personal loans and mortages. Failed to comment about NCFA lying (I assume anyway) that they were CitiFinancial. Was wondering why I couldn't find a Visa Card offer or credit card information on their website when I messaged them. lol I still feel like a fool falling for this after dodging GSI and some other scams in the last few months.

The nice people at the FTC sent me an e-mail stating that they do not intervene in individual disputes and if any info I provided them was useful, they are gonna use it and I may be contacted. So, the ball is rolling it seems.

Brick wall

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Fantastic, began communication with my bank. Turns out they ran the thing through as a papercheck, so I cannot find out who the third party ACH is I guess and can only file a stop payment and keep an eye on my account as the stop payment will be on my account record for 6 months thus not allowing me to close it and open a new one. The people at my bank are very helpful and have done very well in providing services and helping me out for years now, so I'm not upset with them at all. Grateful really.
I have not activated this card NCFA sent me, or signed any papers...I suspect that somehow they will still try to say I have to pay this or that, or take it seeing as they have all the info they need to withdraw a payment from my account. Stupid papercheck crap, pretty much the only time I have written checks over the years is for pizza.
Guess I'll see what all the bank can help me do to ensure that they leave me the hell alone. I'll just not write any checks period from this account and see if I can have it as a set in steal kinda thing not to process paperchecks. Thankfully I have another account at another bank, I'd just wave the stop payment, but I want my money back and really would like to see everyone NCFA scammed get justice. Guess I'm just not in the right position to get as much of it as I hoped.
Finally got some sleep though, feeling good, and just need to be patient and figure out what to do now. Anyone know if Social Security would do anything since the only money going in and out of the account form now on will be SSDI? Gotta set up my bill paying stuff at my other account now.
So, I made a little noise; banged a drum for a bit, to no avail? Let's hope not. If I find out anything, I'll update, and try harder to quit griping with what seems to be pointless information here. lol
Good luck to everyone, and have a good one.

So, between people trying to kill me, letting me come close to death, screwing me over, lieing to me and so much more, the psychotic kid isn't exactly in a good mood.

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 13, 2005

I'm bored so I keep finding places to report to..

Well, I figured I'd find more government or whatever agencies to gripe to about ncfa. Some fraud thing can't remember the name, ncl or something, for fun. Put all my available phone numbers on a do not call list. And figured while I'm at it, I'll contact a lawyer about this zyprexa settlement and talk about the people who caused my disability, and how wonderful the medical and human services are round these parts.

So, between people trying to kill me, letting me come close to death, screwing me over, lieing to me and so much more, the psychotic kid isn't exactly in a good mood.

Did I mention I recently got a psych professional to say I'm stable? lol Been a rough ride as memories and cognitive abilities somewhat return to me.

Alrighty...is there a point when this all becomes TMI?

Being it's the weekend I have not gotten any responses yet, nor can I take care of things at the bank. So, far I have reported and filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, FCC, my bank and in the process of my state attorney general. I have no idea what is going to become of this, or what else I can except be patient, which I am not very good at.

I'll update this as I find out stuff.

Just in case, a few tid bits

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 12, 2005

I figure I should add more information in regards to the incident I am reporting after viewing other reports on the same company.

The phone call I recieved was from a woman who called herself Michelle. There was no noise in the background, until I was sent to a supervisor Shawn for verification. (I'm not so good at telling things in order).

Well, Michelle told me I was pre-approved for a credit card to help rebuild my credit and that I had submitted an application on-line...since they had claimed to be citifinancial, one of many sites where I had actually been the night before looking at cc options, it made sense to me at the time.

I was asked rather politely for my checking account number after being told that I was approved for a visa card with a $2500 limit from citifinancial (am I supposed to put a tm thing after that? if so, I do apologize for having not done so previously not exactly thinking straight at the moment - not that such is a strong point of mine anymore since becoming disabled.) Alrighty, enough getting off course! Since, I was once again told that they were a different company than they actually are, I didn't mind too much giving them my account number...which I have come to find out is incredibly stupid! Lessons learned I guess. I was then transferred to Michelle's supervisor, Shawn, for verification.

Shawn was rather polite as well, walking me through what was said and ensuring that everything I was supposed to be told was actually said and that I understood it. Such as getting 4 $100 vouchers to pay on my credit card balance, making it so basically I'm giving them 300 temporarily just to ensure that I can make payments on time. I answered his questions, and told him what was said as neccessary in our conversation. Once again, being told they were from CitiFinancial (R) (or tm) (?) (lol).

Thus began the recording of my acceptance to the terms and crap. At one point as he asked me if I understood what was being said as I was attempting to listen to what the recording was saying to me that I was supposed to be responding to and about, I told him it would be easier if he would shut up; I was "getting" paranoid (I'm always paranoid, makes it funny, since I've been told to try harder to work through paranoia - "not everyone is out to get me"...another example of something bad happening when I listen to others.) Obviously not enough to stop all this from happening.

So...I agreed for them to take out the money on the 14th...they took it out on the 19th. $300, definitely not well spent, of course it turned into $332 as I only had 2 dollars in my account and didn't deposit my checks form the job I started on the 7th until the 21st. If they would have taken it out on the day they said it would have been there. So, I figured they had to wait for this verification form was back to them that I hadn't recieved yet and spent my money on bills.

And today, in the mail, I received a package from NCFA...my first thought was "Who the f*** is this?", out pops 2 catalogs, 2 order forms, a plastic credit card type thing and some stupid vacation thing...as well as 4 $100 voucher things I was told I was getting. Oh, joy...

And thus began my tangent of finding out they are and what the hell to do about it. And to think, I only agreed to this thing to begin with cause my fiance'e answered my phone after I told her not to because of this stupid grant scam place calling me over and over after I told them to send me info about it, just to teach her a lesson! Sure blew up in my face, huh? lol

So...what am I going to do about all this? First, grovel at the feet of my betrothed as once again I proved myself wrong. And two, talk to as many people as possible to find out all options available to me.

Thank you all so much for providing this website, and my best wishes and sympathy to those who have been ripped-off and hurt by such scam companies.
