My rate per DT has been increased astronomically. For my recent bill, I had to pay three times as much as I have ever had to pay in the past 3-4 years I have been with this company. So the problem started when I received my gas bill. I nearly had a heart attack seeing how much I had to pay for Februray. $385.33 JUST for the markerter gas charges? How is that even possible when in my January month bill I paid $135.66. How is it even feasible that my February bill suddenly jumps up to $385.33. That is ridiculous! The rate for Therms used jumped up from $7.9990 per DT to $22.2500 per DT. that is literally a 300% increase in rate. It's not even like we used more gas! In January I used 17.0 Therms used, and in February I only used 17.3 Therms used. Only a 0.3 Therms used increase but we're charged 300% more? What is it 100% increase for every 0.1 therms used now?

Now I've tried to contact Customer Service and calmly talk this out, but they are uncooperative and nonresponsive to all my attempts. I called their number 1-866-568-0290, and after a few rings, I am greeted by a receptionist who then says she'll transfer me to the right department. Clearly on their webpage and on their contact information on my gas bill it says that number is for customer service, so why do I only get the receptionst? I then sit there as the automatic female voice repeatedly says "your call is important to us, please wait for the next avaiable representative." I then wait for HOURS upon HOURS, from 8am to 2pm, calling mulitple times, leaving my number to receive calls back, and even staying on the line for 3 whole hours "for the next available representative," and I have yet to talk to a real representative. Clearly my call is NOT "important" to them, as they seem to be either avoiding my calls, or avoiding answers my questions, and if all their representatives by some chance were all busy for 7 hours then how reliable is this company? Have there been so many complaints that all representatives are tied up for 7 hours? If this company really cared about it's clients then they should have a more reliable customer service system.

I tried to logic this out to see how this could even be possible, and despite wracking my brain and trying to see the situation fro their point of view, I have come to the conclusion that there is no other answer than that this company is robbing me blind. I understand that in New Jersey the weather hasn't been so great. Yes we've had snow, and yes temperatures have dropped below freezing for like a day, but that doesn't explain how even though there is a miniscule increase in Therms used I get charged a whooping $385.33 for it. I understand rates are variable from month to month since it is based on an open-market, but has the gas supply suddenly dried up and gas is so scarce that the rate would go up 300%? RIDICULOUS. I am truly appalled.

Polar vortex, really?

AUTHOR: Stephaniie - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 31, 2014

It is an insult to all your cheated customers that you blame the polar vortex for your high prices. How dare you? You practices are indefensible, hitting people with utility bills 3 times higher than the norm.  I am one of those people and I am outraged.  I hope an investigation is launched and you are found guilty of unfair practices.  A class action lawsuit might also be a good idea, as you have truly taken advantage of your customers.  How do you explain a $ 690.00 gas bill for two months, with a thermostat that is strictly monitored and new windows and insulation?  I'd like to hear, but we have been told that we cannot talk to a supervisor, ever.  How convenient for you!  Going back to JCP&L, good riddance!!!

New Jersey Gas & Electric (“NJG&E”) attempted to locate the complaint author’s record; yet, we are unable to locate any information on this customer.  We would welcome the opportunity to research this case further should additional details be made available to NJG&E via email at customerservice@njgande.com.

Please note that the price that we pay for energy, as a supplier, to service our customers, has increased over the last several months.  Adverse weather conditions have broken decades-old records, and as a result, the costs of natural gas and electricity have been rising.  We welcome you to refer to a recent article posted by BloombergBusinessweek GlobalEconomics (http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-02-06/northeasts-record-natural-gas-prices-due-to-pipeline-dearth?campaign_id=DN021114); which provides an overview of the current market conditions in the areas affected by this year’s polar vortex.

I am also one of the victim from NJG&E

AUTHOR: Niem N - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, February 19, 2014

I am also is one of the victim from NJG&E. They raised my Februaury 2014 bill from $176 ($7.99 per DT) to $472 ($22.25 per DT). I've tried to call them 1-866-568-0290 in the last 2 days so many time but they put me onhold more than an hour and automatic disconnect my call. I've tried to email them to to CustomerService@NJGandE.com and CustomerRelations@NJGandE.com but no answer or anything. I have the feeling this is all about scam from this company. There is no way they can raise the rate 4 times within the month and tried to cheat on the customer and won't answer the phone call or email. This is ridiculous. I hope their customer service will take a reply before i report this matter to BBB. So please careful before sign up with NJG&E.
