I found this listing for this wonderful position on craigslist (looking back, this was probably my first mistake). I e-mailed my resume to New York Client Solutions and on July 19th, 2013 I received an e-mail to come in for an interview. My interview was held on July 23rd, 2013, and I was invited back for a second interview on July 24th, 2013.

I was hired and started work on July 25th, 2013. From what I gathered on the second interview, the company was in need of people to eventually become team managers in a goal to expand their operations to different offices across the U.S.. New York Client Solutions, according to managers Colin Moore and Stuart Gurney, is a marketing agency that deals in "direct sales". The way they presented what they did as a company seemed like they had big goals and high profile clients, but from what I gathered during my time there it wasn't what it seemed.

I would work in the "energy" division of the office. Basically, that involved going to different parts of the city and getting people to sign up for an ESCo (Lexington Power & Light) where I would work as an independent contractor. I worked for almost 4 weeks and that involved almost 12 hour workdays and 40+ hour weeks. When the question of payment came up (by another newly hired employee), we were told that we would be paid every three weeks and that the first paycheck would consist of the first weeks pay.

I found that not only unusual but disheartening especially with all of the work I put in, so I stopped coming in after August 15th, 2013 and eventually parted ways with them via. e-mail. Even if what I was being paid was solely based on commission I needed that money cause I worked for it and it was entitled for me. And here is where the story gets interesting...

I stopped by the New York Client Solutions office in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday August 21st, 2013 to pick up my paycheck because I assumed they would have the paychecks ready for all of the employees already (before my last full workday at the office, one of the managers said that they were already working out the payroll). I told to the secretary at the front that I there to pick up my first (and last) paycheck. I waited, and then a senior manager at the company asked me what division I worked for and who I worked for (that would be the energy division for Colin Moore and Stuart Gurney) and told me to wait in the office. Colin Moore told me he was working on the payroll and that the paychecks would be available on Friday.

I stopped by the Midtown Manhattan office around 3:00 on Friday August 23rd, 2013. I told the secretary at the front desk that I was there to pick up my paycheck, to which she replied that the FedEX truck that was to deliver them hadn't arrived yet. I walked around Manhattan fo a little bit and returned to the office later around 6:00.

I waited in the lobby and then another senior manager told me to wait and then directed me to his office. He said that the paychecks hadn't arrived yet and gave me Colin Moore's number and told me to call him. I called him on Saturday August 24th, 2013 around 2:00 and he told me he had no idea what was going on with the paychecks since he was out on a business trip to Conneticut (even though that Wednesday he told me he was working on the payroll) and would have everything sorted out on Monday. I called Colin Moore on Monday August 26th, 2013 and he told me that the paychecks were mailed out and would be sent to me on either Tuesday of Wednesday of this week.

It's Friday August 30th, 2013 and I have still not received my paycheck or ANY compensation at all for the services I have provided. I called New York Client Solutions on Thursday August 29th, 2013 and told my story to the receptionist. She said she had no idea about anything regarding paychecks and there were many incongruencies and doubts in her speech as I was talking to her.

What really did it is when I called Mr. Moore that day. He responded to me with a text that read "interviewing. will call later." He never did.

I refuse to be jerked around by anybody and I want my money! I put in so much time and effort and basically by not paying me at all, New York Client Solutions showed me that they are not only a company that can't be taken seriously but they do not value their employees. This company just seems like it's run by a bunch of party boys from the UK who want to live the American dream and are willing to screw people over and cut corners to get there. This is not only unethical but illegal and I will see this if neccessary in court to make sure I receive the money I am owed!

Was paid for services provided...jumped the gun on report.

AUTHOR: Tom A - ()

After talking with the associated parties, I received compensation for my time at New York Client Solutions. It was really in poor taste for me to air this out online and really what I said was just me jumping the gun. I had been scammed by jobs I found on craigslist before and I thought this was yet another situation but nah. I feel bad for even doing what I did now. I guess when you have your own business and are tied up with paperwork and logistics things will happen. Colin Moore and Stuart Gurney are great and honest people and great to do business.

In fact, the time frame that it took for everything to be rectified really showed so much to me. One of those things was that they were willing to do right by their employees. Another one of those things was that they are professional. And another thing is that they care about their image, their people, and their reputation. Because of that, I am writing this follow-up to show that everything has went smoothly and what was owed to me was eventually paid.

I wrote what I wrote out of frustration and I am terribly sorry for anything that might seem damaging to the reputation of New York Client Solutions. The job wasn't for me. I guess I didn't know what it entailed and thought there was something else, but that was just the side of me that was dealt to many bad hands with shady employers that led me to believe something was up. I sincerely apologize for this and any unfounded speculations that were proven to be that. Speculations.

I'm happy to say that at the end of the day, professionalism prevailed, and New York Client Solutions proved to me that they are a reputable company with drive ad determination to make things right!
