Newegg misleading advertising, won't take product return internet
*UPDATE Employee: Newegg misleading advertising, won't take product return internet
*Consumer Comment: Operating system
I recently purchased a "refurbished" laptop online from Newegg. It was a stock photo and the description included the latest operating system, so I thought I was getting a newer model. The one I got was beat up and scratched and even older than the one I am trying to replace. It already says it needs a new battery and it won't stay on, even when it is plugged in.
I contacted their customer service and was basically told "buyer beware". They will not let me return it and told me to take it to Apple for repairs.

A computer's operating system has nothing to do with how new a computer is. You can load a new OS on older machines and it will work fine. What did the description of the laptop say the specs were? Did the specs on the advertisement match the specs on the laptop recieved?
Also newegg's return policy is listed on every item they sell. FOr refurbished laptops it is:
"Limited Replacement Only Return Policy
Return for refund within: non-refundable
Return for replacement within: 30 days
Products that state "This item is covered by Newegg.com's Replacement Only Return Policy", or items labeled as Non-refundable (or similar labeling) must be returned to Newegg within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. Products covered by this return policy may only be returned for a replacement of the same or equivalent item. Return constitutes receipt of the product by Newegg, and not the mere issuance of an RMA. "
So they did inform you when you purchased it that this sort of purchase was non-refundable. If your laptop is defective, their return policy is to replace it with the same type of laptop within 30 days. How long has it been since you purchased it? It shuold have a limited warranty with apple also, have you contacted them for warranty repairs? They are correct when they tell you buyer beware, they did warn you that the item is non-refundable.
