On Dec 8, 2014, my husband and I received a call from Sarah Monroe from Newport Travel saying that we had purchased a vacation package with a downpayment of $198 in Aug 2008, and that since we had not met the requirements of that package that the sum we now owed was $2998; however, her company was willing to act as a mediator with the original company and us to reduce this amount of money we owed. She did not have the name of the original company.

She offered us a discount of $1100 off the total amount, leaving the amount that we needed to pay at $1898.

According to Sarah, the two travel packages in consideration were worth $7,000; i.e., two 4 days & 3 nights host location; two 3 days and 2 nights mini vacations; two 3 days and 2 nights cruise (gift); and two 5 days and 4 nights in Mexico. We would get this paperwork in the mail.

All we had to do was complete the form she would send us by email and fax it back to her tonight.  We never signed and returned the form. Also, she wanted a picture ID from us to verify the information.  She was very aggressive, argumentative, and demanding in her phone call.  She even had us talk to her supervisor, Steven Anderson.

I looked on your site on the Internet and saw many entries against Newport Marketing, LLC, and all of their AKA's.  Because of the intense sales pressure, we were really suspicious that she was using fear tactics to extort the money from us.

I hung up on her.  We cancelled our credit card because she had the number, blocked the phone numbers on all of our phones, wrote this report, and my husband is checking with our Farmer's Insurance Company representative as we have a policy with Farmer's regarding identify theft.

Our records showed that we did not purchase any such agreement in 2008.

We believe this is outright extortion.

Since Dec 9, 2014, Newport Marketing/Newport Travel have sent us another "travel Package" for us to take advantage of their services.  We sent the paperwork back with a letter on Dec 19, 2014, letting them know that we were cancelling the contracts in the package in accordance with the stipulation that it was done within 30 days without any penalty or obligation within 30 days from date of purchase or receipt of the vacation certificate, whichever occurs later.  It further said, "If you decide to cancel you must notify the seller inwriting of your intent to cancel by returning the certiciate and sending a notice to Newport Marketing, LLC at 16701 Collins Ave, Sunny Ilses, FL 33160. Since that time they have continually called us on the phone trying to get us to change our mind.
