well let me just start by saying I will never shop in Nordstrom store again my life. After 10 years of shopping there it just shows they have no customer loyalty. So I go to return an item and they say they cannot return it because I do not have the receipts even though I stated when I bought it, how much I paid and I had the brand new item in the box. I asked for the manager and they kept on pushing it off until finally 35 to 45 minutes later the manager showed up. When she showed up she looked at the item and accused me of not even buying the item there even though we stood right next to the display that was the same exact shoe. So right off the bat she accuses me of being a criminal and trying to do a fraudulent return before she even asked me any questions!! Then she proceeded to tell me that I am better off keeping the $250 pair of uggs that I bought for the holidays for my girlfriend that didn't fit right because dealing with her she will not help me in anyway. so I proceed to ask for Nordstroms corporate number and she gives me the number to Eric Nordstroms and tells me he will not override her decision ever. When Erik Nordstrom called me back he acts like the store manager is never wrong and the customer is always wrong and that she has the final say even though belittling a customer is not an allowable practice. Then he proceeds to tell me it is not worth his time to look into the matter as it is only a $250 pair of shoes. Sorry that everyone doesn't haven't millions like him to say that. When I ask him what will be done for the manager treating me like a thief land talking down to me he says one thing. You made your complaint are you happy now. WOW isn't all I can say!! You might as well call me a liar as well. Well to end the story I feel that putting his direct line up here more complaints will come and you will see he will just brush you off from his fancy little hand me down business. ALSO if you shop at the store you will see all these employees act as if they are untouchable no matter what they say to you because as I heard it directly from Mr. Nordstrom my employees would never do that and he is too high up to deal with real issues. Buyers beware if you shop here you better have a masters degree or you will become called a liar a thief and an idiot by their manager!!!

Report doesn't make sense

AUTHOR: Powers - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 30, 2012

There are many things about this report that don't make any sense. One of the reasons that Nordstrom is able to implement a "no receipt" policy is that there are so many ways to find the original purchase in their system.

First, every item at Nordstrom is sold with a return receipt attached to the item. This is not the paper receipt handed to the customer, but a barcode affixed to every item.  A purchase can't be completed without scanning that barcode.

If the item was in the original box as the OP claims, where is the attached return barcode? Returning an "original box" with no return barcode attached would, rightly, raise the suspicions of any employee that the items wasn't purchased from Nordstrom.

Nordstrom can also track the purchases based on the credit card or check used to purchase them.

There are several other ways to track a purchase, but those are confidential and involve Nordstrom security procedures, but suffice to say, if the purchaser can say the exact date and location an item was bought, Nordstrom could find it. In all likelihood, the "30-40 minutes" the OP says he waited was probably when the manager was trying these alternate methods, and determining that this was not a legitimate purchase.

Uggs are sold by many discount stores, on ebay. Likewise, there are a lot of counterfeit Uggs on the market. No store, including Nordstrom, is responsible for refunding a product that they can't verify was purchased from them.

Return policies don't apply to you?

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 26, 2012

While you go on and on about things that have little bearing on your complaint, you completely avoided the key issue.    Nordstrom gladly accepts returns with a receipt.   You tried to return without the receipt.   The reason for the policy is that shoplifters and other petty thieves commonly attempt to return mechandise that was either stolen from Nordstrom or elsewhere.   No doubt their explanation of this policy led to your overly dramatic statement that they called you a criminal.

The fact remains that you did not have a receipt, so your merchandise was not eligible for a return.   Curious that you would not keep a receipt for something that you did not know would fit the intended recipient.  How does anyone know where you got these boots?

By the way, knowing when something was purchased is not the same as holding the receipt in your hand.   I would explain why (it involves crooks), but you would probably get indignant all over again.    Suffice it to say that adhering to their return policy does not constitute a ripoff.   Your expectation that they should make an exception just for you is not realistic.

"  Buyers beware if you shop here you better have a masters degree or you will become called a liar a thief and an idiot by their manager!!!  "

This makes absolutely no sense.   A masters degree does not exempt someone from being either a liar, thief or idiot.    You obviously don't have a masters degree, because you seem to think that those who do have one, carry their diplomas around to show to department store employees.  It doesn't work like that.

Come to think of it, most of the really heinous thieves I know of have MBAs or better.

The only real education required to keep this from happening is the ability to read (and follow) a very simple return policy.
