I started working for this company on 12-24-2009.  My partner and I took possession of the truck at the Spring Mountain location, Las Vegas Nevada, which was already 3,000 pounds overweight on the tandoms.  The truck was filthy and a health hazard.  The company didn't clean the truck.  Me and my partner took 3 hours to sterilize the inside compartment.  The tandoms did not operate properly and we had to take the truck and trailer to a mechanic who had to use a grinder and sledge hammer for four hours to get the tandom to slide.  We encountered problem after problem with the company from the on-set.

We were told in the office before we even took possession of the truck that our fuel cards were loaded and ready for use.  We soon discovered that to be a lie.  Our first trip was from Las Vegas, Nevada to New Brunswick New Jersey.  Not one time were we able to just fuel without difficulties.  ComData not once honored our fuel card straight out.  We always had to contact the company and wait 45 minutes to as much as 3 hours just to get cleared to fuel.  ComData would refer us to their collections department almost every single time.  This was also the case on half of our fuel stops on our return trip to Las Vegas NV.  Dispatch is a drivers worst enemy.  Susan (Sue) is the biggest lier you'll ever talk to on the other end of a phone.  She will send you to a location to pick up a trailer assuring you that the load is already waiting to be hooked up to.  The load will not be ready and you will have to sit half a day, or even over night before you can hook up to your load.  Bare in mind that the drivers don't get paid for the time sitting on their a*s waiting for the company to get their business straight.  Therefore a trip that should take 3 days can turn into 5 unnecessary days on the truck away from home and family.

The company used lies and false promises of 'bonus compensation' to manipulate us into driving 0000 miles round trip to pick up personal furniture on a refeer trailer for their inlaws.  We're still waiting to be compensated for those miles of driving and furniture loading.  We reported an air leak in New Jersey.  The company said they were sending a mechanic to service the truck.  No mechanic ever showed up.  We had to track down the problem and fix it ourselves.

On 12-25-2009 (Christmas Day we notified the company that the license were about to expire in a few days).  We were told they would take care of that.  On our return trip we ran 5 days illegal without up to date tags.  But to our surprise coming into Arizona port of entry at the scale we discovered that not only was the tags expired, but IFTA was expired, registration was expired and there was no current insurance card.  Arizona's policy is to issue the registration ticket violation to the driver - not the company.  For you truck drivers that don't know...that is a $340.00 ticket that goes on your personal driving record.  The company said they would pay it but they haven't done it yet.  Also, that ticket is one that you have to appear in court on in person.  Who do you think has to pay for the trip to go back to Arizona to make the court appearance?  That's right!  The driver.  And that would be a round trip expense.

Now this prompted us to do a little investigation of our own - and what we found out was that the company has 13 trucks - and guess what?  All 13 trucks were the same.  IFTA was expired on all the trucks, registration was expired on all the trucks, the tags were expired on all of the trucks and none of the trucks had current insurance cards.  North Carribean Transport INC / (aka: Sunline Logistics) has all of its drivers running illegal and in jeopardy of compromising their CDL.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention this little fact also.  The company tells you that they pay you by the mile.  But when they do their figures to calculate your pay they actually calculate your pay by zip codes.  One zip code could cover as much as 10 to 30 miles.  So, the company can actually shave all of those miles off of your pay.  Now add that deduction by as many trips that you make too.

ok STEVE I worked for sun line logistics and the post you were commenting on is not far from the truth for example the comdata cards never had money on them I know this cause I was a dispatcher for you, Sue as not a good co dispatcher she sucked trucks not being registred also true cause I ewas there when that happen and it did not get fixed for almost 3 weeks seemed like the owner was to busy buying things for him self and not putting it to capital. And as for the trucks breaking down wow never heared of having the driver beat on the battery and starter see if it works then or force them to find a friend who hopefully knows what he is doin what a joke lol. I did not last with you cause you guys expected to get a certain amount from shippers but wouldn't share that witrh me or what the drivers maade or atleast an amount that you wanted each teuck to make not many people can just be thrown to the sharks and expect rto know your numbers and you expect to pick up on those amounts in a week or two.

#1 UPDATE Employee

dispatch

AUTHOR: Joshua Rodriguez - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 04, 2011

I've been with this company almost a year now and while maybe it's a possibility some of these things happened in the past I assure you there has been a vast improvement before and after I started working here.

As for the truck being cleaned, since you picked up the truck from our old office here in Las Vegas, at that time we did not have a warehouse in which we could clean the interior of the truck. We have moved to a new facility which has a pressure washer to clean the vehicles. Though I was not present when you started, it is company policy to provide cash advances for truck and trailer washes whenever requested.

The tandom problem was most likely caused by driver error from the previous owner of that truck. At times drivers are put into teams, or let go, due to repetitive damage caused to the truck.

The problem with your comdata card seems uncommon here. Our fuel limit on our comdata account is sufficient to run the fleet for a minimal of 12-15 days with out making a deposit, the problems may have been present in the card you were given, someone would have presented you a new card.

As for your concern with Susan in dispatch, she no longer works here as she was guilty of stretching/bending the truth. However it does not seem that you even stayed with the company long enough to be able to judge dispatch. From the trip information you've included it seems like you stayed with the company a little over two weeks.

Its impossible to have every load ready the second you arrive. We live in a real world, other trucks arrive at these facilities you load up at and they load the trucks to their own accord. More often than not dispatch is powerless to accelerate the SHIPPERS business. These kind of delays also happen when the DRIVER does NOT ARRIVE ON TIME. Maybe that was the case with the sitting over night.

As for your registration papers, insurance/ifta and those kind of paperwork are handled by safety who has been on top of it for as long as I've been with the company. She has been able to atleast present a temporary copy of any paper work a driver has needed until they reach a terminal.

As for your little investigation, it seems completely misinformed. This company had 20 trucks when I started in February 2010, now even more trucks than that, each truck having all of its own paperwork. A copy of this paperwork is kept at the office. That seems more like a blatant lie than an investigation.

As for the miles by zipcode, I've seen payroll process people's pay and if you provide the full address of your stops she inputs those instead of the zipcode. The zipcode are just in place for drivers that do not want to fill out their trip logs completely and can use the zip codes to abbreviate their locations.

While I apologize for the incovenience you may have experienced at North Caribbean, the time you seemingly spent with the company does not justify your complaints. Starting at a new location takes some adapting to the circumstances, its a possibility you started on a rough week. No job is a cakewalk at all times. In the end however the goods outweigh the bad here. We have plenty of veteran drivers who have been with the company multiple years, they've all been rewarded for their loyalty throughout their employment and usually recieve the loads they request. (if possible)

Sincerely,

LMS
