North County Jeep GMC Kia Extended Warranty Ripoff Escondido California

I purchased a previously owned vehicle from them in November 2001. It had approx. 8,000 miles on it. They informed me that I HAD to purchase the extended warranty from them for the life of the loan on the vehicle (7 years). I did so. They put an expiration date of January 1, 2006 on it. When I took it in to have something repaired in August of 2006 they informed me that the warranty expired. I argued with them that the warranty was supposed to be for the life of the loan (it will be paid for in June 2007. They told me that it was expired, there was nothing they would do about it, and that this is a common practice and all car dealerships do it.

I did not own the car for the first 8,000 miles, but the extended warranty was issued from the date that the car first went on the road, not when I purchased it. I paid for something that I didn't even own at the time.

I told them this was a rip-off and that I was going to report them to the BBB. Her answer: "Good luck with that".
