The owner of this facility and I agreed that my horse would be in a 12x12 stall at night and out in the pasture at night. He would be grained twice a day and would be well taken care of. Although he did say he used few shavings, I had no experience with this so I didn't pay that much attention to it. I gave his $1300 ($750 deposit and $750 1 month board).

The day I brought him into the barn and got him off the trailer, I was told he would be in quarantine for 2 weeks. I could see quarantine for a couple of days, but not 2 weeks. He was completely isolated, in a bare paddock with no shade and no grass. He was given minimum hay. This paddock was also attached to a metal barn where he was kept on some nights. The stalls in this barn were 10x10 which I thought too small for my horse which is why I chose the barn with the 12x12 stalls.

He was forgotten (by the owners own admission) in the 10x10 stall in a low ceilinged barn that was made of metal (hot) for 5 to 6 hours and when I got out there he was swetting profusely. After the two weeks quarantine in hell, he was let out to the pasture with a few other horses. He got to be out in the pasture a few days and then it started raining. He was kept in the barn (12x12 stall) for 1 week when I left the barn. He had been sleeping in his own urine due to the fact that there were hardly any shavings. His blanket reeked. My horse was angry and not taken care of. Shadow has never had any problem in any barn we have been in, but he kicked a hole in the door he was so mad. One of the things this owner said he did purposefully was to never feed at the same time. My poor horse was almost sick when we left that barn.

I was told I would get $200 back since he was in the 10x10 stall for 2 weeks. I have yet to receive anything. I hope no one goes to this barn because it is not a good place for your horse and they do not do what they say they are going to do.

Please remove posting as both parties requested removal

AUTHOR: Derek - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Please remove posting as requested by both parties.

All new horses are quarantined for the safety of existing clients, and agreed funding has been returned. We both wish each other the best, and this is the only negative reference on any site and would like to have it removed given our good name, and our affiliation with the BBB.

New processes were put in place (this is over 3 years old) to ensure there is clarity with new clients on the requirement to quarantine.

Thanks for the help,

Derek

Reimbursement Received

AUTHOR: Rebecca - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 21, 2009

I have been reimbursed the $200 that the owner and I agreed was only fair.  I was angry when I originally wrote this account.

Shadow has been very happy in his new barn for the past 5 months and I have been very happy with his treatment.

The owner of North Dallas Equestrian has written me an email demanding I take this off this sight.  I probably would if I could figure out how to do it just because I don't like conflict.  I do still feel that $1100 for 3 weeks of less than expected service isn't a good deal.  If he had only told me that Shadow would have been in that paddock with no shade and no grass for more than 2 days, I would have gone somewhere else.  I would not submit my horse to that kind of treatment, but that is just me.

Please know that he is friendly and I do believe he wants to run a good facility, but the price and the treatment we received was not a good deal to me.
