I am writing this complaint about the Child Protective Services (CPS) in Mt. Pleasant, TX. They have continuously set out to harass, destroy, separate & humiliate my ENTIRE family, based on unfounded accusations. It all began when CPS came to our home, claiming that they've received reports of children being "babysitted" by a person(s) that are drug user and/or dealer. However, the children in question had no babysitter whatsoever. CPS requested that all members of our household be tested for drugs & our family complied. CPS also asked us to provide a list of all the persons the children have been in the company & presence of; however, they hadn't been around anyone other than family. We were directed/advised to get drug testing from Dr. Reichert's office- a doctor whom was himself indicted for fraud & other charges. In this initial process & investigation, 2 children were in question of abuse and/neglect. Six (6) members of my family were tested for drugs, all of us tested negative except the 1 yr old little girl that we will refer to an "Angel". CPS placed Angel in the custody of another family member, claiming she "supposedly" had lethal amounts of drugs in her system, amounts that would even be by far LETHAL to an adult. Now, the family member that "supposedly" is the drug dealer/user was never initially investigated- although she has three (3) children of her own. After my family all tested negative of drugs, CPS started harassing the family member that has been around Angel. They required her & her children to take a drug test as well, at the same doctor's office. When the results came back, the family member that has been around the child Angel tested positive & so did one of her own children of tested positive as well, supposedly having extremely high levels of drugs, LETHAL amounts in the child's system. These amounts are known to be called "8ball", an amount that would by far kill an adult several times over...yet a kid remained healthy & unharmed that SUPPOSEDLY had these amounts in his system. None of our family member and/or their children used drugs & over and over we had told them this. Eventually, the removed the family member's three (3) children from her home & placed them in foster care for no reason. CPS then come back requesting that the elder father of our home be tested, a man that you cannot even get to take aspirin for pain. To this very day, more & more of our family members are continuously being harassed. The case was eventually declared CLOSED after us going to court- that was a court agreement. The agreement was that once we (our family) got another house for a family member to live in with the children, the case would be CLOSED. We completed all requirements such as classes, etc. CPS came out, took pictures & we were given a completion certificate; however, when time came & passed for the case to be closed as instructed & agreed in court, CPS did not hold up their end of the order. This has cost family members to lose jobs, miscarry pregnancies, stress, and so many other things that you cannot correct- and it is WRONG & AN INJUSTICE TO INNOCENT FAMILIES. CPS harass & humiliate you recklessly, no matter that you cooperating, no matter what you try to do as they told you need to do or what you voluntarily do without even being asked to do to help the situation because as good parents would to help their children. All the while not giving you any options but to separate the entire family or abandon your children to foster homes. CPS harass you, making you go to meetings, classes, court dates, getting support letters & proof to dispute allegations of abuse and/or neglect-causing you to miss so much work trying to cooperate with them that you get fired. CPS caused my family to lose money that we had saved up for our future & the children's future, causing us to sacrifice bills/utilities or hiring an attorney to maintain and/or regain custody of our children & loved ones. We have lost a lot of hard-worked & earned money for no justified reason, unfounded allegations- to be with the ones we love, money that they wont give back to us, money that we had to pull together & get, money that should have been in our pockets and the amount/fees are still counting not including having to miss work and lost wages for these people. CPS has placed a permanent strain & toll on my entire family EMOTIONALLY, MENTALLY, PHYISICALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY & FINACIALLY...not to mention, SOCIALLY. We have continuously exhausted ourselves & efforts to them, but no matter how hard- they continue to come up with more requests, more requirements, more harassment, more allegations, more lies. We need to find some way to file a complaint against them or some governing officer to reign over their activities.
