On Saturday, July 16, 2016, I received a letter from Northern Leasing Systems, Inc..  The letter is titled HARDSHIP SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT.  It says that in regards to an equipment lease agreement for which I have an outstanding balance of $2087.30, they are willing to accept $359.93 as long as I pay that amount by July 31, 2016 otherwise the discounted settlement agreement offer will be null and void.  Further, they will continue collection activity.

This letter comes out of the blue.  I don't recall ever having had any equipment from this company such as a credit card processing machine which is what it seems they provide.  I never had an invoice or bill or notice from this compny ever.

Some years ago, not sure exactly how many, I began the process of starting a small, home based business.  I never actually got it started, I never sold anything, I never made any money.  I recall a process of preparing to accept credit cards but I never had a machine, an account to process payments or any occasion to accept a payment.

I have to think that this company, or some in it, is trying to profit from using old mailing list information in order to get money from people who might take the threat of collection seriously enough to carelessly send them a check in order to prevent any action.

I searched the internet about this company and found out enough to see that this business has been sued recently by the Attorney General of the state of New York.  There are hundreds of complaints against this company for deceptive business practices.  The BBB gives them an F and advises of an alert regarding their business practices.

At this point in time, I intend to ignore this letter.  If you believe that I need to take some action otherwise, please let me know.  For years I have worked to improve my credit.  I don't want some Mickey Mouse crooks to possibly jeopardize it.

i was in a similar boat...i ignored in the beginning....later out of blue after several years, they sent a charge off note to experian that dropped the score by 200 points...I have still not resolved with them, and i dont know how to resolve, as they are not interested in facts, all they want is money...How can you give money when you have not done any business with them...
