I had similar situation with other person. I had been out of work for a about 2 years because my son had personal health issues that I was needed for. After he was better, My husband and I decided to open our own business, it opened right before the ecomonic crisis and closed within the year. We lost all our money and I still couldnt find a job. The law group adivsed us to TRY for the Modifaction for our Mortgage. They told us not to pay--any of our bills including our mortgage. We our now in a horrible place. After months of trying resolve the issuses with kyle Norton and his group we are losing our house!! He never returned any of our phone until we had to started paying our mortgage again. They never told any of the creditors that they were working us. They also ignored the calls from them after norton law told us to tell them we had a lawyer! They took our money upfront. Kevin, Mr. Norton asstistant called anf told both my husband and I that we would be getting a full refund of $2500. We recieved only $500 for the failed attemped at the mort.modifation. We did not recieve anything for the work they didnt do with the creditors. They took are money and didnt even have the decency to finsh the job and help us declare bankrupcy!! I dont have any money to file for bankrucy, which is why im losing my house now!! I am appalled at his practices and how he does not follow up with anything!! Dont listen to the radio ads--all lies--at least he lied to me!!! If youre tempted look else where--you will be sorry if you dont!! I reported him to the Attorney General and the BBB as well!!!

Kyle Norton.. Norton Law Group

AUTHOR: Diane - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 02, 2011

I worked one day for this company and quit due to his unethical practices. Kyle Norton, Kevin O'Rouke and Lisa Small have no interest in saving homes, they are only in it for the almighty dollar.

Lisa explained to me how they make their money by depleting the retainer and charging the client every time you touch the file whether it be to look over the paperwork write a letter send a faxmake a phone call or receive a phone call. THE RETAINER NEEDS TO BE DEPLETED SO THAT YOU CAN HIT THEM UP FOR MORE MONEY. Not once was it ever mentioned that we are in business to save homes. She made it very clear to me to keep very good accounting on all files and input into Quickbooks at the end of the day.

They don't give a d**n about anyone. The files I worked on should have never been taken in for a modification, most did not qualify but they were charged a tremendous fee. The files that did qualify had not been called on or submitted, on others paperwork had not been updated in many many months and there were no notes on activity. How do you justify that?

Kyle Norton has over 37 complaints and has had to refund thousands of dollars. This was told to me by one of the attorneys while we had a cigarette break in the morning. I waited there all day to meet the wizard as they call him buteven when he showed up he never invited me into his office. Pretty strange I thought, you have a new employee and you have no interest in meeting her. The whole place is very unprofessional.

Unfortunately this firm is not alone, I have quit 5 jobs since November for the same reason. I am reporting each one and hopefully soon they will all be shut down

RESPONSE & THE LAW

AUTHOR: Legal Eagle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 12, 2010

New York State Law Governing Upfront fees for Loan Modification Companies Under this law Distressed Property consultants must Not Collect upfront Fees prior to FULL COMPLETION OF SAID SERVICE Under a Dec 2009 Amendment this Prohibition was extended to Attorneys admitted to practice in the State of New York The only Distressed property consultant exemption is when a Lawyer or Law Office is directly providing consulting services in the course of his or her legal area of practice Beware! Of the Loan Modification Company's "Sales Pitch" There are 3 things you must be cognizant of before you entrust a third party service provider to help renegotiate your Mortgage contract, otherwise known as a LOAN MODIFICATION. 1. Upfront fees. By non-Attorneys is ILLEGAL. It is Against the Law in New York for a non Lawyer to collect upfront fees to modify your Mortgage. This helps protect consumers against deceptive practices by unscrupulous Mortgage industry professionals. In many cases they do not have the Legal capacity, or even the intention of completing the hard work necessary to precipitate a renegotiated mortgage agreement. Always consult with an EXPERIENCED, LOCAL Foreclosure Attorney, who can most efficiently defend troubled homeowners. 2. No Physical address. It is vital that a Company have actual office space. Not being able to come and sit for a face to face consultation is as clear sign of fraud. If an actual office Appointment is not offered, they most likely cannot effectively renegotiate your mortgage. 3. Pushy sales Tactics. In addition to not having a real office space some Modification salesmen will try and push for a "close" over the phone. This warning sign goes hand in hand with not having presentable office space to conduct a proper consultation. This is another clear sign of danger and desperation that must be heeded at all costs. Do not consult with anyone who tries to push you into anything you dont feel comfortable with.

Scammed by Kyle Norton

AUTHOR: Don - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, October 28, 2010

Very nice positive and informative remarks about Kyle Norton and his office by you guessed it, his own employee in charge of marketing, his right hand man Kevin O'Rourke. Isn't it funny how he makes it look like "your average Joe" wrote this and other positve remarks of the wonderful Mr Kyle Norton by misspelling words and capitalizing letters that shouldnt be? Nice job isnt it? My advice is that he should stick to this and do alot more of it, there is alot of bad press out here, and stop talking to the clients walking in and acting like a lawyer which he isnt. The reality of it all is Mr Norton rarely if ever appears himself in court, he gets other attorneys to appear, that is if he even does that, who know nothing about your case. The business is run by his marketing guy Kevin O'Rourke and his office manager Kimberly Ball who is also not a lawyer and has no legal education. Stay away from the Law Office of Kyle Norton, Norton Law Group and all the other business names he's got. You will get burned!!! Don't believe me, look into it yourself by contacting the Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau, the NY State Barr Association, and the Suffolk County Bar Association for starters and then do some google searching and try to remember those wonderful praising posts are most likely posted from, you guessed it, his own office. DON'T BE FOOLED AND SCAMMED OUT OF YOUR MONEY AND HOME !!!

Kyle Norton BEWARE

AUTHOR: Don - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Norton Law Group... Did you know he goes by a few names to try and get away from the bad rap he gets? He's no longer going under Norton Law Group, the newest, of many he's got is Law Office of Kyle Norton, PC. In any event, yes this firm is BAD NEWS. The complaints you read when you google his name are all true. Don't believe me, check it out yourself. Call the Suffolk Bar Association, the NY State Bar, the Better Business Bureal,  and the Attorney General if you really want to know where this firm stands before you make the mistake of ever giving him a dime.  Yes, they do not show up for court appearances, yes they do just shuffle the papers, yes they will charge you for basically nothing but calling you looking for more money, yes they do not do what they say they will, yes you will get burned. If you are already a client, next time they call for money (which is all they ever do call for pretty much) tell the office manager Kimberly Ball you wont give them one more penny until they document everything thats been done and request copies, electronically so they wont charge you $1.00 per page. Do not trust their billing statements, they are a joke, I should say all lies.  As far as any positive remarks youll find on the net are concerned, just know that he pays his marketing guy Kevin O'Rourke to get these up and big bucks to try to hide all the bad ones, you can you know if you pay internet services the money.

Fairness and Justice for all

AUTHOR: Jabberwhacky - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 15, 2009

THis rebuttal is from a satisfied client of Norton Law Group who hopes to put the terrible calimities that this Great Nation is facing due to the Sub Prime Mortgage Debacle that darn new brought the GLobal Economy to its Knees. We will all enure Harships at some point in our lives, and like the commentator whose comments I am rebutting, Owned my own business and saw it collapse before my eyes when the Mortgage backed Securities Market took a turn for the worse. I also suffere from a terrible medical harship that further effected my capacity to make a sufficient income and suseqentely fell behind on my mortgage. When I sat with MR Kyle Norton from Norton Law group and asked him if I should pay my mortgage or not? he clearly told me that it was Unethical for him to advise me not to pay my mortgage, and that was a personal decision that was soleley mine to make. As for him returning my calls, I genenerally received a call back from Mr Norton within 24 to 48 hours and after suffering another financial setback, it was determined that after we received our reduced Mortgage modification, which was alot more affordable than the high interest 80/20 payments that we were making before we fell behind. He even represented us in the Foreclosure conferences and got in front of those nasty Bank attorneys that  were trying to repossess out home. We now have our lives back in order. thanks to a talented Attorney by the name of Kyle Norton

A note to Homeowners

Facing foreclosure? Scammers are targeting people having trouble paying their mortgages. Some claim to be able to rescue homeowners from foreclosures, while others promise loan modifications for a fee. The Federal Trade Commission , the nations consumer protection agency, wants you to know how to avoid scams that could make your housing situation go from bad to worse.
Dont Get Hit by a Pitch.
We can stop your foreclosure! 97% success rate! Guaranteed to save your home!
These kinds of claims are the tell-tale signs of a foreclosure rip-off. Steer clear of anyone who offers an easy out.
Dont Pay for a Promise.
Dont pay any business, organization, or person who promises to prevent foreclosure or get you a new mortgage. These so-called foreclosure rescue companies claim they can help save your home, but theyre out to make a quick buck. Some may request hefty fees in advance and then stop returning your calls. Others may string you along before disclosing their charges. Cut off all dealings if someone insists on a fee.
Send Payments Directly.
Some scammers offer to handle financial arrangements for you, but then just pocket your payment. Send your mortgage payments ONLY to your mortgage servicer.
Dont Pay for a Second Opinion.
Have you applied for a loan modification and been turned down? Never pay for a second opinion.
Imitations = Frustrations.
Some con artists use names, phone numbers, and websites to make it look like theyre part of the government. If you want to contact a government agency, type the web address directly into your browser and look up any address you arent sure about. Use phone numbers listed on agency websites or in other reliable sources, like the Blue Pages in your phone directory. Dont click on links or open any attachments in unexpected emails.

NY State Attorney General

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 20, 2009

IMMEDIATELY contact the NY State Office of the Attorney General!!!

The OAG has won a lawsuit against many of these shyster "loan modifications" and these bozo's might already be on the list of those who have been ordered to make resitution.

Even if they are not on the list you should file a formal complaint with the AOG.  You can file online but I suggest you visit the NEAREST OFFICE in your area and file the complaint in person.  Take ALL documentation with you, emails, contracts, website screen captures, etc.

Good luck.
