We rented an apt from Oakridge Properties owned by Gordon Elliott and others. They had a property manager who was not at the same building. Upon moving in our airconditioning did not work, then the following week the heater did not work. We became sick with carbon-monoxide exposure at lethal levels due to a hole in the dreaft diverter of the unit. A family of 4 we almost died. Within the same unit was stachybotrus(Toxic) mold, which is now in my blood. I also suffer from M.S. due to the toxic exposures.

Oakridge upon our report of smelling gas, sold the place for $1 to another property company. They even attempted to evict us, but we fought and sued. We had 14 judges recuse the case as the owner is also a local CPA. hmmmm. All heating and cooling violations were against city code. We reported it and the city health department wasn't enforcing against landlords (slumlords.)

We sued the insuranc company, State Farm for fraud and Gordon Elliott for Breach of Implied Warranty of Habitability. We couldn't get an attoney to take the case. He was well protected locally.

But, Guess what, he had a heart attack in China and was in the hospital for 23 days according to the local newspaper. Just right for the hard hearted son of a .....
My Grandmother always said what goes around comes around.

We continue to suffer long term effects from c.o. exposure at 1200+ ppms which should have killed us in less than 8 hours. Somehow we weren't through here yet. Maybe it is to take a stand against Landlords. Would like to see them prosecuted under the Ricco law!

Out Building outside was not painted for years. The inside of the apartment looked o.k. but there was not chain to turn the light on where the heating unit was in the hall closet.

My beautiful daughters now 17 and 13 had aspiring careers in modeling and dance. That's a bygone wishlist now. They suffer memory loss and slew of other problems, like overheating on exertion.

By the way, the company who bought the building three days after our exposure, the owner died of brain cancer after he stuck his head in our closet heating unit. hmmmmm......

Of course the press locally wouldn't cover it.hmmmmmm.....

Theresa, you also posted against Oakridge. There is a slew of us out there angry with them. Trying to get a tenants union going. Maybe we could get a class action going, with some attorney. Of course they would have to be out of town!!!!
