This company did not rip me off, they did something even worse.  They ripped off my 85 year old neighbors!  My neighbors called them about an add to clean their air ducts for 39.95.  Before they were through taking advantage of them they owed the company almost $6000.00!

The first guy that came out went directly to their attic.  Within minutes he came down and told them they had rats in their attic.  This is a 7 year old home in and exclusive neighborhood.  That's not to say that they could not have had a rat in their attic.  In fact they did, but it was the two legged kind and he worked for Ocean Air Care Inc. out of Woodland Hills, CA.  His solution for this problem was to remove all of their attic insulation (this is a 3800 s/f home) and replace it with new.  He could have this done for them for around $4800.00.

Three days later another "rat" from this company showed up with a crew to do the work.  Before he left, he also sold them an attic fan for another $1200.00!  When I heard about all of this I went up into their attic to check the work.  The insulation was not replaced (only flipped over) and the $1200.00 fan is something anyone could purchase at Home Depot for under $100.00.  I unplugged the fan because it looks like a fire waiting to happen.

To add even more insult to this scam is the fact that they never even cleaned the air ducts which is what they were originally hired to do.  These guys need to go to jail!!!

Good News!

AUTHOR: ME - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 17, 2011

Just thought I would let all of you know that this story had a happy ending.  After many months and several letters back and forth, the company that these repairs were financed throught (GE Money) did the right thing and wrote off the loan.  I hope they went after the crooks (Ocean Air Care Inc. out of Woodland Hills, CA) that tried to rip my neighbors off, but I will never kow that.  I did hear from the CSLB that the air duct company was forced out of business due to this claim and several more just like it.  My guess is that the cockroaches have formed another company and are out their trying to screw other folks out of their hard earned money.  All I can say is be very aware of who you let into your home.  Also, when some company tries to sell you something you did not ask for, get a secnd opinion about whether the repairs they are recomending are really necessary.

Getting somewhere :)

AUTHOR: ME - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, May 27, 2010

I just wanted to take a minute to update you good folks that read reports from this wonderful web site.  Through hard work and do diligence, we are finally getting somewhere as far as resolving our dispute with these crooks.  Since the senior couple that did business with OACI ended up having to finance the job, we have been having to deal with the finanace company in an attempt to get their money back.  After four letters and threats to make them take them to court to get their money, they have FINALLY sided with us and reduced the couples balance to zero.  My only hope now is that they will go after the creeps that pulled off this scam and get the $6000.00 back from them.  This will complete phase one of the process.  I will now be following up with the CSLB to see about getting their license revoked so they can't screw anyone else!

A final note to all of you.  I have heard that this company is in the process of changing their name to American Air Care so be careful.

Update

I just wanted to update you folks that come to this site to file complaints.  I notice there are three more complaints that have been filed since this one and they all have the same smell to them.  The folks that manage and operate this company are RATS!  Someone mentioned taking their complaint to the California State License Board.  Well I did that over two months ago and have gotten nothing but a form letter back from them telling me we should try and "work things out".  What a joke.  It's no wonder that companies like this one get away with screwing people.  You try to get someone on the phone there and all you get is a recorded message saying that "thanks to the government making us take Fridays off, we don't have time to answer the phone anymore.  Brother.....  I know it will cost you good folks more money, but your best option is to hire a lawyer.  That is what I have done.
