I purchased my home in 2005 from New Century Mortgage. They harassed me about an escrow account, and when my payment was due They would call my work on the 1st day of the month and demand to know where the payment was. I explained to them that they were calling a public school in the middle of the day, and that I paid electronically on the 1st day of each month therefore it had not processed. This harassment continued for two years. I looked them up on the internet and saw that they were a predatory lender

When I saw the words, "Predatory Lender," for the first time it scared me really badly.  I immediately tried to refi with another company. I used the same mortgage company in our town and they found us another loan. They assured me that this was a fixed rate loan. It looked like a fixed rate loan. It wasn't. We were given to Option One, a company that evolved from New Century, so we kept the same kind of lender. Predatory.

They continued harassing us about our escrow account. I told them that I would go to the California Attorney General's Office if they didn't stop.  I started looking for another lender immediately. We weren't suppose to have a prepayment penalty on the loan but there was one.

We were turned over to Homeward Residential about sixteen months later, but Option was still involved. I kept asking for a monthly statement, but I never received one in the entire length of the loan until last month. During this time we tried to sell the home, but we could due to the real estate market. We tried six times over a period of seven years.

We tried to refi with every company, bank, credit union, or lender but were turned down due to a low credit rating. We had never been late once in the entirety of this loan until last May 2012. I was never late on my jeep payment, car payment, or credit card payments. No one would talk to us.

The loan began adjusting and we put in the paper work for a Home Modification with Homeward Residential, but they kept saying we didn't give them what they asked for. Not true.  We put in for a second home modification with Ocwen, but they have turned us down as well. We get calls every day that we refuse to accept.

We had a buyer for a short sale, but Homeward would not cooperate when we tried to get the paperwork completed. We finally raised the price of the house to cover all their back fees, expenses, ect. When they sent the demand, it was good for two hours. You can't make an offer on a house, and get an ansewr in that amount of time.  You can't record documents, or even get the title company to get things done. We lost the sale. We haven't seen another offer since. The real estate agent had a client, friend, that wanted the house so that stopped all other offers. We dropped them.

On the demand that Homeward sent, Homeward Residential, Wells Fargo, Trustee for Option One, and Mellon Bank was listed as debt collectors. That kind of tells  you that this was stock, and no longer a loan. I can't get a modification on this house because so many people own it, and they can't agree to a home modification.

I started a facebook page called "stop predatory lenders," in hopes of finding other people that were in my situation so we could draft a petition and I would take it to Washington DC to the United States Justice Department. We are interested in help from the government. I do have a lawyer because I'm in foreclosure, but I want to see change happen for us, the victims of predators. I would consider a class action lawsuit  mainly because that's all these people understand.
