On Nov. 8, 2002 I ordered an HP Inkjet printer with a $30 gift card rebate attached to it. I mailed in the rebate form with ALL required/requested documentation on Nov. 25, 2002. Unfortunately for OfficeMax, I kept copies of ALL info sent in and ALL dates things were mailed. They wait 8 weeks before mailing me a rejection letter that said I "did not meet the proof-of-purchase requirements" for the rebate, and suggested I review the form for the exact requirements.

Now, I provided the purchase receipt, the completed rebate form, AND the original bar code off the box. I DID follow all requirements and include everything they asked for. I sure as HELL don't know what else they think they need!

It is now March 7, 2003. At the end of January, at their request, faxed them everything I have with a cover letter attached. 3 weeks later, heard nothing, called them again. They said "Lina" was the wrong one to have faxed the stuff too, and that I needed to re-fax to someone named "Kim P."

Two weeks have passed. I have heard nothing. What a bunch of BS! I will not shop at OfficeMax any more unless they resolve this frickin' BS which should NEVER have happened in the first place. Just to add one more twist to the story:

Last year, my dad purchased a great many OfficeMax rebate items over the course of the year, and routinely sent in the rebates and documentation. He never received ANY of the rebates he mailed in!

Finally, he added them up and sued them for over $2000 and won. They didn't bother to even show up to court so he won by default. He slapped a garnishment on one of the store's bank accounts and got all of his money. Haha! Bastards. I'm going to keep fighting for my $30 as long as it takes. They will NOT get away with screwing me!

I received a $30.00 check from OfficeMax for my rebate. Case closed!

AUTHOR: Lynn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 26, 2003

OfficeMax called me a few days after I sent the latest fax. They apparently are having severe problems with the contractor who is supposed to process their rebate requests. They implied that this vendor was on very thin ice and probably would not be processing their rebates very much longer. A couple days ago, I received a $30.00 check from OfficeMax for my rebate. Case closed!
