We had a reception for the 40th wedding anniversary of my in-laws. My mother-in-law was collecting all the gift cards and had them in her purse beside her at the head table. I had given her a card with a $100 bill (big mistake). At one point near the end of the afternoon, only a handful of guests remained so we moved to the center of the long table. We all noticed that the busboys began cleaning dishes of one end of the table. The purse was on the floor beside her chair. When we returned home and were going through the cards, one card was missing and it happened to be the one I gave my in-laws. The only conclusing we could make is that when the busboys were working at the end of the table, they lifted a card out of my mother-in-laws handbag. So there have been several lessons learned. Always be aware of your gift cards and know where they are at all times. Do not give cash. Always write a check for the amount of the gift you are placing in the card. Do not feel that you are invulnerable to thievery. It can happen anytime and anywhere. Unfortunately there is no absolute proof of what happened. We have only replayed the afternoon and have come up with this conclusion. However, restaurants need to be responsible for their employees actions and at the same time, guests need to be responsible for their personal belongings. Let the buyer beware!

They should play the lottery..

If the busboys took just one card and it just happened to be the card that had money in it, they overcame great odds. And no one in the party moticed the busboys going through the cards/purse to find the card with the money. I suppose your post is possible but I don't think it's plausible.
