Omar Sails Charged $7000 for equipment that lasted 4 days Beaufort, North Carolina

We paid Omar Sails $7000 for a post mast furling system fitted on a boat that was to be delivered by a professional crew across the Atlantic. The equipment lasted precisely four days. The crew unceremoniously dumped the boat in Bermuda, arguably the most expensive place in the world. The boat then had to be shipped to Europe at vast expense and once in Europe the cost of putting to right the post mast furling system was a further $2500. Meanwhile Omar Sails studiously ignored all our emails until finally, with the help of Bock Marine through whom they were recommended, we received a reply.

This reply was curt, aggressive and quite frankly rude to say the least. In it Omar Sails claim to have done nothing wrong, but we believe they took advantage of the fact that our boat was soon to leave US waters and the fact that we are foreign, ie British. Bock Marine did offer us some compensation as a goodwill gesture but we feel that Omar Sails should take responsibility for not doing a proper job and for ripping us off.
