He stressed that Omega meats and products were the same quality as Omaha Steaks but cost much less. He further stated that all Omega products were guaranteed with a satisfaction money back guarantee if not completely satisfied. Further more he stated that if a product was not acceptable he would personally come out to my house and exchange, replace, or refund on anything that I was not 100% satisfied with.
I didn't try the products for a few days due to the fact that I recently moved and was trying to get my home in order. I tried some of Omega's seasoned chicken. When I thawed it out it was the consistency of liver and I could not put it on my grill because it was too slimy. I tried to pre-boil the chicken in the bag, as the sales manager told me to do, and it did keep the meat together. However, when I grilled the chicken it tasted horrible. The chicken is not a true chicken breast, as advertised, but processed chicken the consistency of chicken lunch meat formed to look like a real chicken breast in the package. My wife and I could not eat the chicken so I gave some to my dogs and they even vomited the meat up it was so bad.
I then tried some of their steaks, advertised as the same quality as Omaha Steaks, only cheaper, only to find out that the meat had so much grissle that most of it was not edible. The meat had an off taste to it and was extremely tough.
I called the company in Apex, NC, where the salesman came from, for four straight days, only to be told that the woman answering the phone would contact Josh, the route manager, and he would contact me. Needless to say, no one ever returned my calls.
The total cost of the beef and chicken was $500.00 and it was totally unedible. Omega Meats misstates the quality of their products and fails to honor any quarantees.
They list their meats as being "Restaurant Quality" although I would never eat at a restaurant that served their meats. They also list their meat as being U.S.D.A. inspected which I doubt their meats would pass any government quality test prior to sale.
On their brochure they list numerous locations of business: Greensboro, NC, Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, Roanoke, VA, Wilmington, NC, Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Johnson City, TN, Greenville, SC.
I can only make comment on the Omega Meats company located in Apex, NC, but can assume, since all locations are the same company, that the quality of meats is the same.
