On December 2nd Oncor installed a new electric meter on our home and in the surrounding neighborhoods. Beforehand, we had the mechanical style meter and our bills seemed within reason. Since the change, it has showed that our electricity usage has been EXTREMELY HIGH and have hardly used any heat since we have had a mild winter here in Texas. Majority of the time we have used our wood burning fireplace to keep our den and kitchen warm. Trying to get in touch with the right people at Oncor and Cirro is useless. I've spent more than a 1 hour (mainly on hold with each company) and hung up because I was tired of waiting to ask if someone can come out and check my meter and what was the deal with the odd reading from December 2008 to January 2009 electric bill.
When checking back on my past statements, I've noticed that my highest KW usage in the past 6 months was 1193kWh used. (Majority of summertime use.) From 12/17/08 to 1/19/2009 it shows that I used 1663kWh. (Just after the time they replaced the mechanical meter with an electric meter.) And like I said, we have had a mild winter here in Texas and hardly even had the heat on. Also, my neighbors have also noticed their electricity bills being outrageously high as well.
What really caught my eye is my December 2008 Cirro statement. On my kWh Usage History Box stated (764kWh used) but had an energy charge of (1315kWh). And they charged/billed me for the (1315kWh not the 764kWh that should have been applied.) OK, I would now think that January's bill would show (Previous Meter Read 1315kWh) Yet, it showed the last billed period as (764kWh Previous read from December!?!?!?)
I'm thinking to myself, Why is the kWh reading jumping around???
I want others to know that live around the Mesquite area who are having the same issues to inform what's going on with this Out of the Blue High kW issue. Let your voice be herd! That's if you can get a hold of someone at Oncor. lol.
