I had an interview with One Source Talent after they called me, and they "convinced me" to spend $500" for a "comp card" (industry-standard photo-resume) and an account on their website.  They took 5 photos of me with a digital camera against a wall which looked horrible!  I am still not sure what the $500 was for, since the online account with them costs $39.95 per month.  Not satisfied with those amateur photos, I reserved the services of a professional local photographer, who charged me $85 dollars for a very professional, very artistic, and very awesome looking photoshoot (she was NOT with One Source, and she was the one kind enough to warn me about their scam, unfortunately too late.)  Three days after I got the proofs back from this local photographer and put them on One Source's website under my account, I went to a 2nd interview with them, which they told me when I tried to cancel it was "mandatory and could not be rescheduled.)  they saw the local photographer's photos on my account and said "these are not industry standard" and they told me they had already cast me for 5 possible jobs (I have no proof of that) and the only reason I never got any of those jobs was because this "local photographer's photos are not industry standard."

They again convinced me to book their own photographer, charging me a 9yet again" NON-REFUNDABLE) $699 fee.  I have not yet been to the photoshoot, but I have read several complaints which lead me to believe they are a scam.  Since I have just paid for all this within this month, is there any way to get my money back?  Is there any legal recourse?
These are the websites which this kind local photographer lead me to, (as I said, unfortunately, too late):

If there is any legal recourse or any way for me to recuperate my $1200, please let me know asap.  Thank you very much,

army

Rebuttal to my complaint

AUTHOR: armyfrenchy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Although I can not remove my report for One Source Talent from this website,  I would like to post a rebuttal, because a customer service representative was kind enough to call me at home to explain to me the validity of One Source and to try to resolve all my concerns.  Granted, I did pay them money for their services, but she explained to me what those charges were for.  I have a photoshoot with them this week.  I would like to apologize to One Source for the complaint I posted against them, mainly for the reason that I misjudged them without having done enough research.

The charges I paid them so far were for services such as networking to casting agencies, an online account, workshops, and a 4-look photoshoot.  I realize now that I may have spoken too soon in regards to their being a "scam".  I will wait to see how the photoshoot goes, and post another rebuttal once the photoshoot is done.  I know that there are other complaints against One Source on this website, but I am not going to go with the crowd like a blind sheep.  I want to take responsibility to apologize for the complaint I have made against them, and try to follow through with the photoshoot and see how it goes.  I cannot speak for anyone else here except for myself.

And for the person who posted that she paid them money and "never got famous", all I can say is that it is up to you to become famous, no one else.  I understand now that this is an investment like any other.

Gregory
