On September 26th, I ordered a swivel sweeper (shipping $14.99) and was offered a second sweeper and mini sweeper for an additional shipping fee of $14.99. At that time, I also ordered an extra rechargeable battery ($14.99 plus $7.99 shipping), a set of sliders ($7.99 plus $2.99 shipping) and a 3-pack of filters ($9.99 plus $3.99 shipping).
We are talking about $44.95 in shipping charges and shortly after I received it, I found the swivel sweeper to be less than satisfactory and tried to take advantage of their exciting 60-day return policy, I found that not only was I going to have to pay the return shipping charges, (which amounted to $15.00) but I WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR ANY OF THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING CHARGES for a product which, I believe, was misrepresented.
In their instruction booklet, they stated that if the sweeper was not picking up satisfactorily, that it might be because the brushes were clogged with lint and hair and that one must remove that with the tool which had been provided. IT DID NOT SAY THAT AFTER USING THE SWEEPER FOR ONLY ONE WEEK THAT ONE MUST SPEND ALMOST AN HOUR TRYING TO FREE THE BRUSHES SO THAT THEY WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY.
The sweeper was used on bare wood floors and one or two throw rugs (both of which had previously been cleaned on a frequent basis) and it is beyond my comprehension that this machine should clog up so badly.
A 79-year-old widow on a fixed income should not have to absorb $44.95 worth of shipping charges for a product which was advertised with a 60-day return policy. I fully understand that Ontel should not be responsible for the return charges (which some other, more reputable, companies might have waived)BUT I AM VERY FIRM IN MY BELIEF THAT I SHOULD HAVE REIMBURSED FOR THE ENTIRE AMOUNT WHICH WAS CHARGED TO MY CREDIT CARD ON OCTOBER 16th.$115.90.
