In August I reserved a round trip ticket to Orlando frm Denver. I cancelled the reservation in less than 3 days and was told I could not cancel unless I had a medical reason. No where on Orbitz's website did it state this. I do have a medical issue and explained that my doctor is currently on sabattical and not available to write a letter on his letterhead as proof. I asked for them to credit the amount to a future ticket which they have resfused to do, as well. They have basically stolen $347 and refuse to give me anything in return. Do not use Orbitz, they are crooks. Their "customer service" is non-existent and the Illinois Attorney General needs to shut them down. They are ripping off A LOT of people. (This trip was for a business conference to be held in October and I was refunded all funds for the convention itself and my hotel room was fully refunded! What's up Orbitz??? You are totally unethical...)

Hi Earthkatt,
My name is Lynne. I’m a member of the Orbitz Customer Relations Team. I’m sorry you’ve had such a difficult experience. Unfortunately, if the ticket is non-refundable, this is due to the airline fare rules – not Orbitz policy. Please understand, the airline collects direct payment for airfare. This information is verifiable by reviewing your billing statement. Only the airline is able to approve or deny a refund. Unfortunately, Orbitz must adhere to the airline fare rules at all times.
However, if you’d please email us at socialnetwork@orbitz.com and include the Orbitz confirmation number, we will be happy to review the airline fare rules for your ticket. We’ll check for any possible waiver for “Medical Emergencies”, and contact the airline on your behalf. Thank you for reaching out. We look forward to receiving your information.
Sincerely,
Lynne

The problem sir with Orbitz is they DO NOT make their policies and terms easy to find. Most likely you work for them or you wouldn't be interested in my post. They use unethcial practices to make money - bottom line.

What does cancelling your tickets within 3 days have anything to do with this? Are you saying that you are allowed to cancel within 3 days without penalty? If so I have some very bad news for you..there is no such law or regulation in regards to travel.
In fact it doesn't matter if you purchased your plane ticket through Orbitz, another company or the airline directly. As soon as you bought the ticket..there are no refunds. At most SOME airlines will allow you to cancel within 24 hours, and depending on the type of ticket you may be able to get a credit toward another flight..after a fee. This fee could be $150 or more each way, which in your case means you would have had about a $47 credit toward future travel.
But beyond that..when you went to Orbitz, there are terms and conditions on the ticket and yes by you clicking on the buttons that says you have read and agreed to them..means you should have read and agreed to them. Apparently you didn't read the terms of the ticket or didn't care because you figure they didn't apply to you.
Now, one thing is that it does appear you may have bought insurance(not really clear). If that is the case and you have a medical condition that wasn't pre-existing and would keep you from making the trip. Then you need to read the policy and find out how to make a claim.
