Complaint Review: Orchard Bank won't let me consolidate!

Good grief.   I have an Orchard Bank with $980 credit on it. I paid it down to $470.  I wanted to bring in one small balance from another credit card to let me just make one payment instead of two (consolidate) and they said NO!   So I can take the Orchard Bank Card and go SHOPPING, and rack up another $490 in spending, they'll give me that but they won't let me transfer a balance of $423 on the card instead of using the card to spend.  Ridiculous!  I closed my account when this happened. I hope that Orchard Bank realizes how they are NOT helping me rebuild my credit with this stupid rule.   They mentioned that the card was to rebuild credit. But they would rather I go rack up more debt, than consolidate and pay off.  Customer beware!

What have you offered this person that has filed the original report?

Bman on this post that was my point to you. 

What good is writing the FTC going to do to help this person?  Is the FTC going to force Orchard to allow the OP to do a Balance Transfer?

What good is telling them about a company that has nothing to do with the credit card or anything this person has an issue with going to do? 

But since you want me to provide something to help the OP. we go.

There is NO law or regulation that says a credit card has to allow you to do a Balance Transfer.  You say you want to do this to make one payment instead of two.  These are two LOW BALANCE credit cards(under $500 each).  Really how much difficulty can you be having in making two payments that probably have minimum payments of around $30?

You say that they are not helping you build your credit because they won't let you do the balance transfer.  Unfortunatly you are wrong.  If they allowed you to do the balance transfer you would have one card with no balance(if you didn't go out and charge up on it again), but you would have "maxed" out the Orchard Card.  This is actually a negative item.  In general, you should try and never use more than 30% of your total credit line, but also never use more than 50% on any single card.

The best thing you could have done is pay as much as you can on one each month, while paying a little over the minimum payment on the other.  Oh..and if you haven't figured it out they were not forcing you to use up your credit line by not allowing you to do a balance transfer.  As for closing the card, if you were trying to build credit that probably wasn't the smartest move.  Because now you have just reduced your overall credit line but still have the same balance.  If this was an older card you have also just reduced your credit age(another factor in your credit).

Yet in a democracy you are allowed post your negativity - if it helps others when they need advice, yet you seem to be only vindictive and cruel in your responses. What have you offered this person that has filed the original report? Why so many personal attacks to so many people on this site?

Bman with your latest posts are you trying to become RipOff Report's East Coast Karl by posting things that have nothing to do with the actual post?

So the name has Orchard in it, what does that have to do with the Orchard Credit Card(which if you actually did your research is managed by HSBC).  I guess all of those e-mails from Microsoft that says I have won the Internet Lottery means that Microsoft is somehow involved. 

Nothing in the original report had to do with an Advanced Loan Fee scam.  They were upset because the bank wouldn't allow them money to do a balance transfer.  So with your other post, exactly what is writing a complaint to the FTC going to do?  Is there some hidden law in all of your "research" that you uncovered that says a Credit Card company must do a balance transfer?

Unlike the last comment directed at me this information is factual and thus qualifies as an opinion. It can easily be researched. I received the same type of offer in the mail and when I checked Rip-Off Reports I found that many people have been scammed by this particular institution nationally. Make up your own mind, but research first, since that is the fair minded way. I have offered the information - do with it what you please.

Where's the connection Bman?

    Are you implying that there is some connection between the typical Canadian loan scammers who call themselves Orchard Credit and Financial Solutions and Orchard Bank?   Was the fact that they both had "orchard" in their names the extent of your research?   Are you aware that the loan scam outfits just make up any name they want for their fake company?   They could just as easily be called Bman Financial.  Would that mean you were involved?

"Orchard Credit and Financial Solutions
The Department of Banking and the Better Business Bureau of Pittsburgh are warning consumers about Orchard Credit and Financial Solutions, a company that appears to be a front for a Canadian advance fee loan scam.

Alleged victims say they paid approximately $800 each to the company for loans they never received. The money, which they were instructed to wire to Canada, was to be refunded after several months of on-time loan payments.

Orchard Credit and Financial Solutions represents itself as a lender based in Pittsburgh. However, there is no such company located there or licensed by the Department of Banking. In addition, Orchards toll-free number has been linked to at least one other bogus loan company."

You did yourself a favor by closing the account down. The rules are NEVER for the customer, there is no consideration of where the money is coming from, and always how they can take our money away. Our salaries do not go up, when we do not have enough we are encouraged to spend money that we do not have, and this is why you represent a risk. You pay you bills on time - what is the benefit of this?
