We cancelled the credit card over a year ago. Of course, they have no record of it. Have charged us annuall fees which never should have been accessed.
We tried to call customer service 1-800-724-4964 repeatedly to talk to a customer service representive many days at many different times. It is impossible to get a representative on the phone. It always says to call back. This number is set up to cause the customer to give up. MISLEADING INFO.IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH A REP THRU THIS NUMBER.
It has taken me about a week.
FINALLY
I finally called a long distance number to settle the problem about these bogus annual fee charges. Being treated in a poor manner they stated that the account had not been close. I told them to look at the use. I knew exactly what month we had called to cancel, which was october of 2005, because of an arguement me and my husband had over the accout. They argued that that was not proof. Though they acknowlegde there was no use of the card. ONLY PAYMENTS
They also insist on a service charge of over $12.00 to make a payment over the phone. What business does that.
These people obviously mislead people.

No problems with Orchard Bank.

I have had two cards through Orchard Bank, and have had absolutely no problems at all with them.
Reading your post, the first question that comes to my mind is "how di you cancel your credit card"? You cannot cancel a credit card over the phone, it should be in writing.
The numbers that are listed on the statements in which they send out are valid phone numbers. I have called customer service a couple of times, and never had a problem getting through and getting help.
You mention that your account was only showing payments after you thought you cancelled. You cannot close an account that has a balance. As long as your account has a balance it will accrue interest and must have regular payments made on it. Failure to make the regular payments on time will result in late fees being added. Also, as long as the account is open, they can access the annual fee. All of this information is in your account agreement. You got this this when you first got your account. Most people do not read this.
Lastly, the fee to make a payment by phone is actually pretty common. You can access your account online and make an online payment at no cost - provided that you have scheduled it properly and are not trying to make a rush payment. Why should Orchard Bank use their employees to process your phone payment for free?
I don't think that Orhard Bank has misled you. I think that you perhaps misunderstood and were not aware.
