The Oregon Poultry Swaps ran by Laura J. Castle is not a legitimate legal business in the state of Oregon. They claim to be an organization where she has proclaimed the status as the Founder and President and her husband as the treasurer. She claims to have an organization policy and only feels the need to comply with them when they benefit her pockets. One in particular is their refund policy (They claim there is none). Laura will pick and choose who to refund and who not to base on who they socialize with as her valid reasons to Refund. If a vendor asks for a refund she tells them that is against their policy. When she gets conformation that the paid spot will no longer be used by the original vendor, she resells it for full price. These dropped out spaces can be resold up multiple times throughout the year.
The Oregon Poultry Swaps often receives high dollar donated items in which Laura J. Castle raffles off and is purely profit for her. She does not claim or file any of the profits made to the state or the IRS. In the state of Oregon, raffles are considered a type of gambling and it is illegal for anyone who is not a business to operate raffles to the public.
The bio security is majorly overlooked as there are often many diseased and sickly animals that are allowed to be sold. When concerns are brought up to Laura Castle, she will resort in verbally attacking the complainant. The only way she verifies whether or not the swaps should be concerned about diseases is based on her fellow gossipers and calls them her reliable sources. She will not contact proper authorities i.e., the state vet or even a poultry vet, even with the contact information provided to her, in fear of the loss of friendships or liability.
Vendors beware, if you should ever have a concern or complaint. Laura J. Castle and her fellow organizers will mock you and give you "less desirable spaces" should you ever make a complaint to them about your experience should you choose to vend with them again.

Misleading

The history of manipulating facts and misrepresenting them is a common and known practice of Laura J. Castle. The Oregon Poultry Swaps just recently became a legitimate registered non-profit only after finding this report in October of 2014. The original report states the facts at that time in July of 2014.
This rebuttal made by the owner of the Oregon Poultry Swap points out the twisted facts and blatant lies. There is no way for Laura to know who initially filed this report, yet as usual, she demeans and accuses blindly without cause. The private messages (mentioned by Laura) were posted on a private personal Facebook page after Laura (on a public Facebook page) twisted facts over the reasons why a former swap Organizer that was no longer in her good graces and participating in future events. The pm’s clearly showed how Laura spoke highly of the event, and then subsequently spent over 2 hours berating and making up situations that did not happen that day. Laura’s Facebook public group page Oregon Poultry Swaps was the outlet for her defamation, it was reported and the post was removed by Facebook for their part in bullying and harassment of the former swap organizer on July 22, 2014.
I would also like to point out the last sentence of Laura J. Castle’s rebuttal. “All future inquires and complaints should be directed to our Board of Directors. “ The sheer audacity of making this statement on a webpage, that the core reason it was created was so that consumers could have an outlet, is overwhelming.

At the time this report was published, there was no Non-profit business entity with that number. When I looked it up, the Oregon Poultry Swaps did not become a business until 10/10/2014. I didn't bother to read the rest. If they are willing to fabricate (i.e. Lie) within the first few sentences of the rebuttal, it is a waste of time.

Obviously, this report is false since Oregon Poultry Swaps is a registered Domestic Non-Profit in the State of Oregon - EIN#47-2060202. This report was filed by disgruntled past vendor(s) after being removed from our events and organization for bullying and verbal abuse of us and other vendors. They were also removed for public defamation of character and use of non-authorized private conversations in a public forum. All future inquires and complaints should be directed to our Board of Directors.
