It should be noted that Our City Radio (www.ourcityradio.com) no longer exists.  The Changed Names to www.ourcitygogo.com
This started up as a start up business, yet everybody was fired unless they paid for the radio station.   We were promised to be paid for over a year and never made a cent.  Then our radio stations were taken away and we were forced to pay them.  Can we say Pyramid Scheme?

NOT what you're thinking.

Network Manager (Former Employee) Glasgow, Scotland (UK)

ProsIn the initial conception OCR is a decent company trying to do something that no other company does. playing only unsigned and independent artists and supporting local businesses.
Socially there is a lot of variation especially in the Europe network and you get to be friendly with many people either in the know or not/

ConsMany times questions on their main communication systems go unanswered.
Taught to go for a hierarchy system where if one person in that chain doesn't like what you say or suggest it may not get passed on.
As this job is self-employed even after just a 6 month period there is NO guarantee of money, and the payment of money has been pushed back once already.
People who are in the know about certain things are not given the chance even once promoted to share what they no in any capacity.
People afraid to speak out and say if things sound like a bad idea.
Asking for too much, even when no one is getting paid.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not think that other workers have access to funds to do certain things.
Some have said that people think of OCR as a many maker or future money maker as they have been unemployed before. management then asks for things that cost money and wonder why people get upset.
Communication is key, and more staff ideas need to be taken on-board.
The channel idea doesn't work with 150 minimum for 4, 2 hour shows, 5 days a week, after one week, you're done and have run out of music.

Do not spread yourself to wide too quick. The Americans need to understand that the Europe faction cannot trundle on ahead too far and hardly anything is getting done.

As law employment contacts need to be given out with a base minimum salary as you cannot expect people to work off of nothing.
management should also not order or expect workers to do too much, even though this is a self -employed vacancy there is no guarantee of pay.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
