Overland Park Regional Medical Center HCA Midwest Inadequate medical treatment Overland Park Kansas

I went to Overland Park Regional about 60 days ago for pain in my lower back and numbness, tingling, and weakness in my left hand, specifically the thumb and palm area. They took a CT scan to rule out a stroke, but they never x-rayed by neck or lower back because I've experienced back pain in the past, although never numbness, tingling, or weakness in my hand. Moroever, they had me provide a urine sample to see if I had a urinary tract infection. I asked for water because I knew I was not going to be able to provide an adequate sample, and the nurse refused to give me water; she stated they are not allowed to give water to patients, which is an absurd policy. So I had to provide a urine sample that was insufficient at best, maybe a tablespoon, and was not able to provide one that was midstream, which is needed to get an accurate urinanalysis reading. Therefore, they diagnosed me with a urinary tract infection when I most likely did not have one. And they prescribed my Cipro, a fairly dangerous antibiotic that can cause tendonitis, for the so called infection.

Since then, I have had x-rays on my neck and lower back, and I have had a MRI on my neck area. I've been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in both areas and osteophyte formations on my lower lumbar area. Would have been nice if they caught this problem when I complained about it in the ER rather than performing tests that I clearly didn't need. This place is only interested in how much money they can bill insurance or referring you to others within their organization that will also wipe out your billfold and insurance. They could care less about a patient's health. I'd suggest complaining to their risk management director if you have had similar problems.
