Thieves use their site to test Credit Card Numbers to see if they are valid. So many people find themselves being charged $1 from Overstock.com for donation to charity. Then credit card thieves know they have a valid number and can use your card for bigger purchases.

Overstock can stop this by requiring CVV code in addition to the credit card number. This would make their site more secure.
