Owsley & Associates (TIXNIX.com) Unprofessional & Worthless Did not accomplish anything, took to long, and charged to much! Houston Texas

I received a speeding ticket in May 2008 in Waelder, TX. I live in the Houston area so obviously I did not feel like driving back out to Waelder. There were a lot of issues with the ticket the officer gave me. Fr example, the speed he listed on the ticket was higher than I was speeding, he was rude, he would not show me that his radar was callibrated nor would he show me the locked speed he had on his radar. So, of course, I wanted to fight the ticket. I went to www.tixnix.com to find a traffic attorney and the site chose Owsley and Associates (it was the only choice) so I lazilly picked them as my attorney for the ticket.

I was told the lawyer fee was going to be $150 . So I signed the statement for them to represent me. I finally got one phone call from one of there associates. he tried to charge me $200 instead of the $150. After a lot of haggling, he reduced the fee back to $150. I was told that he would extend the court date, make sure it wasn't on my record, and try everything in his power to get it dismissed.

About two months go by (July 08') and I start calling Owsley & Associates to find out the status of my ticket. Little did I know that it was going to take me four more months to find out anything. I must have called them at least twice a week and every time I got through to someone it was a lady, whom for the most part couldn't speak or understand English very well. That would be because all of the ladys there are Hispanic. There was one lady named Lizz that spoke pretty good English and apparently handled most of the cases but trying to get a hold of her was nearly impossible because of her schedule. When I did get a hold of her she would just put me on hold for an average of 8-10 minutes every time. Then, she would transfer me to someone else. Every time I called I was told that they did not know where my file was, would have to contact the courts, and that they would call me back. They never called back. I explained my frustration and dissapointment and I asked to speak with one of the actual attorneys. This has not happened to this day.

Long story short, I finally got them to e-mail me the results of their work on my ticket and they complied. They got my ticket deferred with probation and I have to pay the court $257.40 . That's amazing!! Any one can extend their court date, get a ticket deferred and pay a rediculous amount of court costs. So what did I need to hire them for? Nothing!

The fault is ultimately mine for speeding. As a matter of fact I have two more tickets I just got last month for the same thing. This does not mean that I have a bad driving record, on the contrary I have an excellent one. My point is that when you hire a traffic attorney he/she should do what they say they will and do it in a professional manner.

A good example of this would be the attorney I just hired for these two tickets. The total fees for two tickets are $170. He promised me that he would get one dismissed and on deferred and he even gave a deadline when it would be completed. Plus, he speaks great English and I actually speak with him personally instead of some illegal alien. This is how business should be conducted.

So, if you take anything from this; do not hire Owsley and Associates for your tickets in Houston, TX. They are very unprofessional, poorly communicated, untrusting, espensive, and take unacceptably too long! There is another report in this site that refers to the same company. Another person hired them to take care fo thier ticket. It ended up with that person arrested for a warrent because the ticket that he/she paid the lawyer to take care of never was. These people should not be in business!
