I had a women call my at home one day after work saying her name was Linda. I thought that this was a card that I had applied for some time ago. She got my checking account number for a one time fee that they would have to charge before I got the card. I applied for the card because I needed the money for school. Right after i hung up the phone i had this weird feeling so i went upstairs and went online and typed in Oxford Financial and what came up but RIP OFF REPORTS with many differnt stories just like mine. i immediately calledthe bank and and i am in the middle of dis[uting these charges, however my bank is being very difficult. Anyone who reads this please beware.

I was almost caught with Oxford Financial

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 05, 2005

A few months ago my wife also got a call to her cell phone from these Oxford Financial con artists and because they had already her personal info she thought it was something to do with our bank who do not issue credit cards.
When I got home she told me so I called the number she had and spent an hour trying to get through. I had to wait and try first thing the next morning.

I spoke to a "very nice" lady who said that she would cancel everything and not to worry. As I have heard of these types of scams before I was still concerned and called in with my Bank and reported the scam. They were very aware these type of scams occur. I asked if I could put a "stop" on a request for $249 should Oxford try to take money out of our account. The Bank Supervisor advised closing the account and opening a new one. She also advised she would monitor the old one.Her reasons for this advise was that Oxford Financial were likely to try and take the money in split amounts in case the payment was stopped.

Guess what folks, she was right. About a week later they tried to take $149 out of the account and followed with a further $100.They have also tried a few more times but the account is not paying out as the funds were transferred to our new account.

As I understand, our Bank is now trying to check out these activities so maybe they will be able to file charges.

Moral of the story to anyone who comes up against one of these ripoff scams, go to your bank and tell tham what happened and close the account and open a new one which should be F.O.C. like mine, and tell the bank to check up on the web and read RipoffReport. Maybe they may see their own name in lights.

Good luck all you readers..Just hang up if you get one of these calls!!!
