Oxford Hair Academy Oxford Academy of Hair Design Money Hungry Owner, Drugs, Mediocre Teachers and Bullies GALORE Seymour Connecticut

I don't even know where to start. I went in for a tour and ended up being convinced to justsign up then and there. The first few weeks were good i really loved it. The freshman teachers were nice. The younger one would come in all the time hung over and all she would talk about was her love life and her issues on Fridays which were "hang out days" so not much was ever done. 

The ore you got into the more you realized how inconsistent everything was. One teacher would tech you one way an the other would tell you it wa incorrect and that thier way was the correct way. 

Also, let's talk about just recently graduated students teaching. The owner would put them on the books in the salon attached and have them teach the students so she wouldn't have to hire real teachers. I would have people who were my classmate last week to now being my teacher this week. Which is totally illegal. They wouldn't even know what to do if we asked to learn something new. 

No one there is a financial aid expert so don't expect them to know what they're doing. It is all over the place and especially if your case is a little difficult to work with they will never get it worked out and just keep putting it off. I still don't know what ever happened with my financial aid and i have been looking for answers since March. And now because of me waiting around i awe them 10,000 dollars when i should have dropped out the moment i realized i was being strung along.

Don't expect your stuff to be safe. Theft is very big in this school. The carts they give you do lock but are very easy to break and get into. I have had a lot of stuff stolen from me and mind you this place has cameras everywhere but they were never able to go back and see who was doing the stealing. So for me to retrn to school i had to replace everything with my own money and all she accepts is cash if you buy stuff from her that she has left over from people dropping out. i ended up bringing everything home everyday because it kept happening over and over again.

To the drugs. They knew people in my class were on hard drugs and using outside in the parking lot and would just look away. It was coming and going from the school like candy. People would fall asleep in class and you could tell they had just used outside. Some teachers would bring it to the owners attention and she wouldn't do anything about it.

There is no curriculmn. Students do as they please. Sit on their phones, stay outside smoking cigarrettes with teachers all day, do eachothers hair for free when even students were supposed to pay.

Don't expect to get help when working on a client. There is maybe 1 teacher at a time to help 20-30 students and it'll take at least 15 minutes each time you need help to get someone over to you. So a 20 minute service turns into a 2 hour service. 

As the owner continues to build her huge mansion of a house tuition continues to increase to help her pay for her house. It has gone up drastically over the past 3 years and now financial aid doesn't cover everything so they make you do a payment plan to them for the rest or take out another loan in your parents name. And she only accepts cash for everything to make sure you keep track of what you paid because i've seen there be issues.

Harassment it a big issues also. I was being harrassed for a long time and was told they would handle it not to get the cops involved. They never handled it and i missed a lot of school for fear of my well being. I was being threatened on a daily basis which they knew and so were others and they continued to let it happen.

There is no cleanliness in the school either. We would open up the washing machine in the morning and swarms of of flies and other bugs would come from inside of it. Owner wouldn't do a thing. There would be bugs in drains and stuck in the soap despensers throughout the school. There was no janitorial staff and so the students had to help clean but no one would. 

All in all. This school isn't worth anyones time nor money. That is all i could think of for now. But i'm sure there is more. Think very hard before signing anything at this school. I now "owe the"10000 dollars for an education i never recieved. Not including all the money i had to spend on my own. I have no intentions of paying them. They don't deserve my hard earned money. They already got 10000 dollars out of me and i will not give them a single dollar more to help that horrid woman out.
